Well shit son. Wouldja look at that. Freakin’ 200+ comments for the world’s most worthless post. And almost 50 for the one after it. I should probably just leave the site on shitty mode forever seeing as how it’s actually been a lot better comment-wise than it’s ever been when the site was in less shitty mode (but shitty nonetheless).
So believe it or not, i haven’t looked at any hi res celeb pics at all since… like… what, April 22nd or something. Not a single one.
Not to say that i’m never ever gonna look at them ever again or post them up on the site anymore. Just saying that i haven’t been looking around for them, or at them, this past month or so. Been spending most of my time watching movies instead. Picked up Layer Cake, 2046, Hana-Bi, The Notebook, A Very Long Engagement and Seoul Raiders on DVD. Also watched a couple of my older haven’t-seen-them-in-a-while DVDs. Leon, Romeo + Juliet, and Snatch.
You know, seeing Natalie Portman in Leon really reminded me of Dakota Fanning (although Dakota hasn’t been so slutty so young in movies ala Natalie circa 1994). But Natalie really gave a damn good performance in Leon. And looking back at her entire body of work, most of them have been pretty smart choices. I’d love to see Dakota Fanning become the next Natalie Portman. Hopefully she’ll age as gracefully as Natalie has and not like Haley Joel Osment. Have you seen Secondhand Lions? He’s grown up to be a creepy manteenchild looking thing.
But okay maybe it’s not as bad as i make it out to be but he was a lot more better looking (as a kid) in The Sixth Sense. Now if you really wanna see something scary, just try googling Jonathan Lipnicki and see what he looks like now (he was the little kid in Jerry Maguire).
I bought Layer Cake hoping that it would be at least a little something like Snatch (love that movie) or maybe even Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (not as good as Snatch) but alas, it was nothing of the sort. Despite being directed by the guy who produced Snatch and Lock, Stock (and who’s going on to direct X3). I’d put Layer Cake at a distant third behind Lock, Stock. I’m rooting for Guy Ritchie to make a comeback after the apparently God-awful Swept Away (which i haven’t seen). I think he’s making another gangster flick with Jason Statham. Speaking of which, i hear there’s gonna be a Transporter 2 coming out soon. I saw a link to the trailer a while back but i haven’t actually watched it yet. Hopefully it’ll be Shu-Qi-less (which it probably will be. too lazy to check now).
Seoul Raiders was a pretty blah by the numbers Hong Kong action flick. Nothing special at all. I remember the first one (Tokyo Raiders) being a lot better. It’s saving grace for me were the three cute Korean girls that Tony Leung had at his beck and call. What a pimp.
I haven’t seen 2046 yet. Just waiting for the right mood to be in to watch that movie. Can’t wait to see Zhang Ziyi in it. I love that girl.
Hana-Bi (aka Fireworks). Wow. What a letdown. Even after all the praise it’s gotten, about how super violent it is etc etc, it was actually pretty underwhelming. I was expecting a lot whole more but there’s really only like, one, maybe two at most, really violent scenes (like oooh… getting two chopsticks jammed into your eye… a scene later echoed in Brother, where some guy gets two chopsticks shoved up his nose). Not exactly the violence filled “Charles Bronson Death Wish” style flick the box art quotes made it out to be.
But out of all the flicks i’ve seen in the past week or two, i’d have to say that The Notebook and A Very Long Engagement were my favorites.
Chick flicks at that. I loved The Notebook. I wish that movie would never end. It had a pretty predictable plot but i just LOVED the characters. This movie should’ve been a three hour epic. It was nice to see Rachel McAdams branch out from the bitchy roles she’s been known for (The Hot Chick, Mean Girls) and just be a normal girl. She’s absolutely great in this movie. It’s a good movie for the first 3/4 but then it just kinda abruptly ends. Slightly disappointing climax but still worth seeing for the first 3/4 and for Rachel McAdams. I’m looking forward to seeing her again in Red Eye. Even though it’ll probably be another not so good Wes Craven flick (according to early reviews). Hopefully not as bad as Cursed thought. But i blame Miramax for that debacle of a film. I mean, come on. How can anyone go wrong with a Wes Craven/Kevin Williamson team up? Must’ve been the studio’s fault.
Oh and last but not least, A Very Long Engagement. Not at good as Amelie (best damn [French] feel good movie ever) but good enough. Besides, i’d watch anything with Audrey Tautou in it. She’s so damn cute (just watch Amelie and you’ll see what i mean). Plus she’s French so you know she’s willing to get naked in movies (and she has). Strangely enough, i prefer her with her clothes on. Not to say she doesn’t have great tittays (she does) but she’s just one of those girls that i like for her face (and couldn’t care less if she has clothes on or not).
Okay so those were all pretty half assed ‘reviews’. But too bad. It’s all i’m willing to talk about and i’ll write up whatever i damn well please! Besides, would you really follow the recommendations of a guy who thinks Titanic is the best movie ever? (it is). Anyhow, i’ve decided to eschew the typical formula of all ‘entertainment’ style posts (latest celeb pics, latest pop culture news etc etc) and just write about whatever i want to write about and not whatever i feel you want to read. As it should be. So if you share any of the same sentiments expressed, then feel free to chime in with your thoughts. But spare us the ‘this fucking sucks!’ comments because if you look at my list of links on the sidebar, you’ll find numerous other sites that do a hell of a lot better job at keeping up with all the latest goss, pics and news and whatnot. Maybe i’m just getting lazy in my old age but really, looking around, i see lots of pretty similar sites reporting on pretty much the same news as everyone and well, methinks the ‘market’ is getting a little bit too saturated. So i’m opting to drop out of the ‘race’, and let the big boys ‘fight’ it out for scoopage supremacy. Not to say that i won’t be ‘reporting’ on whatever’s big at the moment. Just saying that i’ll be writing more about what i want to write about and what i feel is post worthy to me. Basically trying to be a lot more bloggier than i’ve been. Or at least as bloggy as i can be because you all know how lazy i can get and you damn well know i’ll be taking the easy way out and falling back into that old formula of suck that permeated the front pages circa the last weeks/months of being Pheatonwned, everytime i get stuck in a rut. (also see: me ‘selling’ the site to Trip)
Oh by the way, if anybody’s wondering, i haven’t actually been away from the site at all. Now obviously you all know that the site was never sold right? Right? I mean, come on now, you should all know me better than that. And you should all know that Trisha was really me.
Yes that’s right folks! I’d be surprised if nobody ever put those two and two together in the first place. The clues are out there. Now Trip, Trip is real. He’s actually a real person. And responsible for all these. Trisha however, was made up. There is no ‘Trisha’. The girl in the pics? Well she’s obviously real but her name’s not Trisha. She’s actually Trip’s very real ex-girlfriend. And not at all a complete dumb whore (at least i don’t think so). That complete dumb whore would be me. I have no idea who her highschool friends Jaime, Brad and whoever the fuck else are though. You crazy commenters.
And another thing, yeah, only NOW do some of you crawl out of the woodwork when the site’s gone to shit. Where were you when things were less shitty (but shitty nonetheless)?
By the way, i’m surprised that somebody actually took the time to try to ‘hack’ Trisha’s PhotoBucket account. And successfully too. Shit, even i felt violated. Kudos to you my (creepy hacker of girl’s photobucket accounts) man. Kudos.
Oh and if you want more ‘Trisha’ pics, ask Trip.
Hurray!

I can’t believe you watched (and loved) “The Notebook.” 😮 You big girl you…
I just finished watching the new version of “Appleseed” which kicked total ass. I lurve Masamune Shirow!
BTW, if anyone has seen the director’s cut DVD of “The Grudge” please let us know if it is worth watching for those who have already seen the rather tepid theatrical release.

I’ve been looking for a good copy of Hana-bi (Fireworks). Should I just get a basic bootleg or should I actually go for the officialy Korean release?

Happy to see a semi-resemblance of sanity here.
Natalie Portman’s best post-Leon performance was the first I ever saw of her: The “dick flick” known as Beautiful Girls. Great on all levels.
#15 | Comment by al k holik — May 19, 2005 @ 6:35 pm
I have to agree. Even though Nat’s damn good in any movie where she shows her naughty bits. A bad performance can be allowed only if she is naked.

Exxx? Fair game then, find more pics! (4)

I really liked “A Very Long Engagement” too, though I thought I was the only one that’d seen it. No one was in the theatre at all when I watched it.
*submitting comments into the future. bah.*
