  3. She wasn’t very good at live acting. Maybe she was just really nervous, I dunno. She looked good though.

  7. Guy isnt funny. But being a guy is a neccasary but sufficient condition for being funny.

  8. I agree with #4 (on both counts). She was good on SNL. Very professional. Also, I never thought she was all that hot until I saw her in motion.

  9. Ever wonder who takes those pictures of the host that always appear before and after commercials on SNL? Does SNL do it itself? Do they take them during the week the host is working on the show?

Guy, you honestly can’t think of about two dozen famous funny women, or about any scenario where a woman you know made you laugh? I pity you.

  10. All bow before my Goddess! For the Delectable Scarlett has made a thrall of Aphrodite and will forever reign as most Succulent of All!
Now stand back so she can Mount my Olympus.

(and if you have a camera whilst bowing please get an image of her secret garden and share it with us)

  14. Welcome to the new Scarlett Johannsen fansite.

Not to sound ungrateful, but I’ll be glad when you post someone other than her.

Still, so glad that you’re back, Justin.

  15. I know the caps are from an uncompressed HDTV capture, but did you download SNL in an HD rip (Compressed or uncompressed.) If so, where?

    Scarlett’s hot.

  17. Generally the women who are even remotely funny are masculine. But still none of them are really that funny.

I dont think making someone laugh makes someone funny. Ive made people laugh and I dont consider myself funny.

And i would very much like to see a list of two dozen (24) famous funny women.

  18. Something must be wrong with you #14, even the gay want to grope her. Hey Justin, you wouldn’t have to have hi-res of her Esquire shoot? Those pics are boobtastic even though Esquire sucks.

  19. #9 – They used to do all the guest host portraits in-house during the week leading up to the taping. During SNL’s early years (late 70’s to early 80s) Edie Baskin used to do them in the art department. She was also the art director. She used to do those hand colored black & white portraits you see on the really old shows. I don’t know if she still does them – very unlikely but still possible.

Scarlett was good on SNL, even though she kept looking at the cue cards. She may be a good actress (or competent or shitty – whatever your opinion), but it seems live TV isn’t really her thing. The great thing about her is that she looked like she was having fun; I guess ‘enthusiastic’ is a good way of describing it.

A lot of actresses or starlets kinda just walk through their performances and that just makes for an unwatchable show. Two guest spots that surprised me w/ their performances were Eva Longoria and Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey. Especially Simpson & Lachey, I was shocked by how professional and into the skits even the really awful, unfunny ones.

  20. Girls aren’t the only ones who can blow on SNL. Robert De Niro has made some of the worst appearances on that show I have ever seen.

    Next to Trump.

  21. #20 – You should also add Andrew Dice Clay and Steven Seagal to that list. Beyond bad.

Youre both absolutly right. De Niro, who just so happens to be one of my favorite actors, did a shit job the time he hosted but I guess the writing contributed to the disaster that was that episode.

I havent been watching really since Farrel left (the writings gone downhill)but some stand-outs for worst hosts for me are Britney Murphy, Britney Spears and some skier dude whos name I forget.

Amongst the best of the last few years I think were Al Sharpton (oddly enough), Al Gore (admitally not the greatest, but he REALLY suprised me) and Conan O Brien.

What were talking about again? Oh yeah, Scarlett’s magnificent boobies *drools*

  23. One of the problems with the show is that they seem to just pick the most high profile person they can rather than looking for someone who might actually be funny. HAving dane cook host seemed to be a step in the right direction (even though he isnt’t funny at all), because he wasnt high profile and wasnt just doing it to promote some shitty project. They should choose more people like him (except actually funny).

  24. sadly enough, The Rock was hilarious on SNL.

oh, and no women arent generally as funny as men in character acting. i think thats just because its easier to make fun of the standards set up for men. or maybe its the way men know how to make fun of themselves… i dont know, and it makes you sound like an asshole to say it but its true.

  25. I remember one time they got Jackie Chan…. poor guy barely knows English, how did they honestly expect him to act out long skits with perfect comedic timing on live TV?

    Dane Cook is hot 😛

  26. Forget the hosts, some cast members (past and present) aren’t very good, most recent notably terrible: Jimmy Fallon, and Will Ferrell.

    Yes I said it.

    #26 | Comment by Tanzarian — January 19, 2006 @ 8:24 am

  27. #26- are you honestly saying Will Ferrell wasn’t good on SNL?

    Alex Trebek?
    Harry Carey?
The guy who couldn’t control the volume of his voice?

Come on, he was the best thing on that show for a long time.

  29. #26 – OK OK, Jimmy Fallon, I understand. That little shit eating grin, forever fuckin’ up his lines, his ‘I’m too good for this show, I’m gonna be in movies cuz I’m so cute and all the chicks dig me’ demeanor. He was never good and was only popular because the girls thought he was cute.

    But Will Ferrell? C’mon!

    More Cowbell?
Jeffery’s (with Jimmy Fallon and Sean Hayes)?
    Robert Goulet?

If they should get rid of anyone, they should sack Horatio Sanz. I swear to God, that dude is like two steps from pulling a Chris Farley.

  30. Paula Poundstone is actually kinda funny. I listen to Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me sometimes and shes definitely the funniest woman on there. The other women they have are seriously unfunny though. And shes very masculine, which supports what I said earlier.

The caps came off an HDTV Wonder, Over the air broadcast. Pretty much raw, didn’t resize or resave. Find the originals and a few more caps at the thread on Superiorpics (lets see if it’ll allow a link here… Original post on SuperiorPics )

And as per most SNLs, it wasn’t funny. Maybe I got a little chuckle here and there, but no gut wrenching bust out loud funnay. That night I wasn’t watching to laugh, though. 🙂

  37. If you use a Mac I highly recommend the EyeTV 500 for grabbing HDTV (hopefully it’ll work with the new Intel Macs too).

  38. I thought that while HD went up to 1920×1080, virtually all broadcasts were done at a lower resolution to conserve bandwidth and allow for more channels. I dont even have HDTV this was all just picked up from random sources.
