LOST FIGURES

A reader just tipped me off to the fact that McFarlane is putting out Lost toys.

The Shannon figure is pretty noteworthy. If only for the fact that it’s kinda fap worthy, with her being sprawled out in a bikini and all.

Yeah. I’d hit it. Even if she was my half sister.

So, i hear Lost is in hiatus till next February? I kinda stopped watching around episode 10 of season 2. Gonna have to watch the rest of that season on DVD and up to the point where season 3 leaves off. Should be able to catch up before it’s back on the air next year.

So it is sucking yet like Alias did in its later seasons?

  5. Lost, for me is getting less and less awesome with each episode. Each show just hints to an inevitable less than spectacular/mind-blowing final payoff. The way the writers stretch the back stories like chewing gum is starting to get on my nerves and I’m losing patience.

I’m always amazed at how great those MacFarlane action figures look. That need a Mr. Ecko figure. And the Michelle Rodriguez character too.

  9. unlike Alias which sucked later due to it’s too stupid plot twists and crazy Rambaldi crap, at least there was still some kicking off ass and running about.

On Lost now, you have stupid plot twists and not-so-crazy Dharma crap, but all they do now is sit around in cages listening to The Others drone on and on about how mysterious they are.

Save your eyes Justin, watch the Heroes and the Dexter instead.

  10. I think the word “Lost” personifies the actual writing of this show!

It was supposed to be about a people who got stranded on an island after their plane went down.

It has gotten so ridiculous with all the stupid plot twists and flashbacks, and secret experiments and so many “other” things, I got completely lost after missig 3 episodes that I never turned it back on!

(Hell hath no fury like a women with no G-spot!)

  11. This is because J.J., like with all his shows, has a great idea to start, and is great at the build up, but he has no idea how to successfully sustain a show or, most importantly, deliver a satisfying payoff. Part of this problem stems from the fact that he never knows where he is going with a show, never has a plan for his shows (unlike the guys behind Prison Break, for example, who have said in interviews that they have, like, a good 3-years of plot laid out…and that is reflected in the show), and this results in pointless meandering plots and lame conclusions to seasons/the show’s run and such.

Thank God I never got involved with this show.

    And Heroes rules.

  12. # 11 the problem with J.J. is that he only sticks by a show for a year or two, then fucks off to do other stuff like MI:3 and Six Boring Degress, while giving control to less talented writers.

    #12 | Comment by DisconcertedGeorge — November 16, 2006 @ 3:57 pm

  13. That’s true too.

From what I understand, he was supposed to be more involved this year than last, but it hasn’t panned out like he thought.

  14. #11 – Lost is heading the same road Twin Peaks did years ago. It’s one of those shows that can’t possibly have a satisfying ending no matter how many writers they bring in.

J.J. Abrams is coming back because the execs smell trouble & discontent amongst its core fans, hence the 4 month break to possibly re-tool the whole show(I’ll bet they just backed a Brinks truck up to his house and begged him to come back). The hiatus is such a friggin’ bad move on ABC’s part. The already slightly disgruntled fans will just give up come Christmas time and won’t hang around til Feburary.

Heroes owns every other show on TV right now. But if they don’t get Sylar within one season and move onto some other storyline, that show is going to be done.

  15. Wasn’t Shannon the stepsister and not half sister?

    #15 | Comment by Jimmy the Blade — November 16, 2006 @ 8:18 pm

  16. I also say that Heroes >> Lost.

Season 2 of Lost was terrible. The season 2 premiere was alright, then the show dove off a cliff. Although it still seems like the writers don’t know what to do with the show, season 3 doesn’t feel (as much) like a soap opera as season 2. It still has meandering plot lines, and few surprises that I don’t see coming. I still think season 3 is better than 2, so far.

I didn’t watch any of the early seasons of Alias, but I did catch the last two. Season 4 was pretty crappy because it didn’t have a continuing storyline until two-thirds of the way through the season. Season 5 was going pretty well (Rachel Nichols…yumb!), but the finale was super lame.

I’d do Shannon, even with her bony ribs showing.

  17. i hear everyone talk about that show but ive never seen it.

    is it worth getting into??

    #17 | Comment by Suzi — November 16, 2006 @ 9:03 pm

  18. #14 Sylar and the nuke plot is planned to wrap up in one season. The next season will be Heroes vs something else.

Lost isn’t helping itself by screwing around with how they tell the story. Especially the coolest parts. If you only watch it on TV you’re probably still wondering what the numbers mean, what the fuck Dharma does and who The Others are, when anyone who was following the online game already has the answers.

    #18 | Comment by DisconcertedGeorge — November 16, 2006 @ 9:45 pm

  19. #17 Heroes? Worth getting into? Oh yes indeed.

but only if you watch from the beginning. There’s too much good stuff in the early episodes to miss.

    #19 | Comment by DisconcertedGeorge — November 16, 2006 @ 9:48 pm

  20. #18 – They’re going to wrap up the Sylar plot in one season? That sounds great! It’s about time these series writers start writing their shows like a mini series rather than War and Peace, cuz nobody’s gonna stick around.

#17 – I concur with #19 wholeheartedly. At first, I wasn’t even going to bother watching it because comic book style shows are never really that great, but the the writing, characters and pacing just grabs your attention. It has a lot of characters but you’re never confused and each episode really does move the storyline and unlike Lost, it doesn’t feel padded. Yes, you should watch it from the beginning, but I missed the pilot episode and I still enjoy it.

  22. #21 – Yeah, too bad. Because that Hurley doll is just totally begging for it… God I’m working up a crotch sweat just thinkin’ about it. Mmmmm…

    #22 | Comment by Smiley — November 17, 2006 @ 1:39 am

  23. #14 – You’re right on the money. JJ Abrams is treading the same water as “Twin Peaks”, like he did in “Alias”. He knows how to create mystery, but doesn’t know how to explain it. The writers promised that they’d explain more of the mysteries this season, because fans were getting discontent, but the show’s been even slower than usual at explaining what’s going on right now, let alone any past questions. I don’t mind the show, because I know it’ll never have a payoff. It’s just a matter of how long JJ will jerk around the fans, before I get fed up and stop watching the show, like I did with “Alias”.

Also, “Heroes” has been better than “Lost” this year. On that show, I do feel like I’m getting clues that will payoff in the future. I hope that holds true!

    #23 | Comment by council24 — November 17, 2006 @ 1:58 am

  24. Season 3 totally jumped the shark, I keep waiting for season 3 to become interesting again, but it’s become too much “the bold and the beautiful” and too little mystery as opposed to before.

    #24 | Comment by MrPumpernickel — November 17, 2006 @ 2:15 am

  25. #23 – The reason Heroes is immensely more enjoyable in that you are not kept entirely in the dark plot wise. The fact that the characters are tied to a common storyline helps, too. Plus, the comic book style presentation and pacing doesn’t make the series seem drawn out.

With Lost, I always get the feeling the writers are writing as they are filming. I never trust any show that claim to have its story arc mapped out for say, the next five years. You can just smell the bullshit anytime some producer or director starts bragging about that.

    #25 | Comment by Smiley — November 17, 2006 @ 2:53 am

  26. #25 – I couldn’t agree more!!

PS Former “Lost” producer David Fury (of “Buffy” fame) commented after Season 1 that there was no blueprint for the show and that when they’d come up with an idea like “the numbers”, they’d try to work it in wherever they could, so people would think that everything was connected. He said that they even edited stuff in during post-production because they hadn’t come up with the idea before the episode was shot. Of course, the other “Lost” producers just wrote his comments off as nonsense, but I’d trust David over JJ anyday!!

    #26 | Comment by council24 — November 17, 2006 @ 3:07 am

  27. #26 – That’s really interesting about the former producer and his comments about editing in stuff to pad the show. Even more fascinating are all these websites and blogs – and even a 200+ page book – trying to decipher the meaning of the numbers, the book Sawyer was reading, etc.

I’m with you, I don’t think J.J. Abrams and the other creators have this show planned out at all. It’s as if during the writers meeting, one of the producers says “Lets stretch out the plot and do an entire episode where Hurley eats an ice cream cone. And anytime the fans start asking about the gappy story, we’ll just toss in the polar bear and the black cloud that looks like a fist and make ’em go: BOO! They’ll love it! And next week, let’s bring in that dancing midget from Twin Peaks and we’ll do the curtains and talking backwards thing. I love that midget!”

  29. Speaking of Heroes, TV Guide had a very Fappable full page photo of Ms. Hayden Panettiere, as well as a little interview.

Did anyone know that this “almost Legal hottie” is recording a CD??? Apparently it’s going to be Pop music ala Britney Spears!

She might be hot and all, but unless she is going to be singing about how much she wants my Man-love inside her tight, wet lips of pleasure, I’m not going to buy that CD!

“Nail the cheerleader, steal her virginity!”

each season has been different from the previous. there IS a plan.
next year the story moves off the island, yes?
    faith in Abrams & Lindelof!

  38. i think its becoming much confusing. Already three episodes of season 3 makes more question to be answered. Its just adding more unknown shit on top of each other, and if its gonna continue like this for long… its gonna suck.

But the flashbacks and relating the past with the present storyline is still perfect. so i rate it as an “ok” to watch it still. heroes rocks.

    #38 | Comment by JM — November 19, 2006 @ 6:33 am

  40. The british version of The Office is not only better than ours, its the best show ever made.

    #40 | Comment by DavidBrent — November 20, 2006 @ 12:01 am

  41. #40 – Agreed. But that argument could only have be made in the first season of the US version, when they just took a handful of the British episodes and “Americanized’ them. Right now, comparing the two shows is like comparing apples and oranges and in many ways surpasses the original by taking the original concept and really taking off with it.

    #41 | Comment by Smiley — November 20, 2006 @ 1:46 am

  42. They aint gonna make another series of the office in the U.K i dont think, plainly because it’ll get slated whatever its like, dunno why, but the british media is like that. I think that Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant are still involved with the american one though.

Anyway, ive just started watchin from season 1 of lost, and i think its pretty good. It aint no prison break, however it does have kate (fitness), i think i love her.

    kthxbye
