Ooh!

I went out and bought Behind Enemy Lines last night. For 15 bucks!!! That’s super cheap man. It’s supposed to be sold at an RRP of about 27 dollars. But i got one for 15 bucks!

Anyway, if you haven’t seen this movie, i really recommend that you do. Ignore the ridiculous plot and just take in all incredible camera tricks that’re employed throughout the movie. This movie is just money shot upon money shot. MONEY SHOT GALORE.

A few favorite scenes of mine:

  • The SAM attack.
  • The bailout scene. AWESOME SEQUENCE.
  • THE SUPER SUPER SUPER SLOW MO SOLDIER DEATH SCENE.
  • When the badass sniper dude realizes he’s fucked and says…

Well. I’m not giving it away. Go see for yourself.

Behind Enemy Lines. BUY IT NOW.

Ooh. And i also got Fatal Attraction and Spy Game. I haven’t seen Spy Game yet but with Tony Scott (Enemy Of The State) behind it, it’s probably gonna be just as cool as Run Owen Run.

    I mean, Behind Enemy Lines.

    2. Spy game is pretty cool, but don’t expect it to be a fast paced action movie. In fact it’s a intense mystery/drama that’s carefully wrapped up in plot twists and interrogations by the CIA…

    4. Just a few points to ponder from someone that actually is involved with motion pictures.

Editing = The compilation of already shot footage into a comprehensible story. I.e. non-existent in this example. Most of the time this is done in close association with the director, since this is an extremely important step. However, most studios retain ‘final cut’.

DP = Director of Photography, composes the overall look and cinematography of the movie. Thus, most likely the director and DP closely collaborated on look of the "money shots" in this movie.

Why the grueling definitions? Because ENEMY BEHIND LINES is an example of the WORST edited movie I’ve seen in a very loooong time. Owen’s character miraculously transitions from one scene into another with barely any explanation or sense of timing for the overall story being told.

Example. After being shot by the assassin at the top of the "hoover dam", he suddenly dissappears and we cut to him running in a completely different setting. No explanation is given of how he got out of peril, and what his persuer has done or is doing. Another blatant one, is right after he is running through the factory "mine field", they cut to his persuer, and once again back to owen with no distinct logic to it. The only explanation must be that time has passed between those cuts, however there really is not discernible hint given for that. And there are NUMEROUS examples of this in almost every transition. Not great storytelling to say the least.

      Then again. What story.

The cinematography is admittedly done rather nicely, but in my opinion isn’t worth paying $15 bucks for. Just as paying $15 for Pearl Harbor is a waste. Its pretty, but sucks on every other level.

If pretty pics are that important, by all means spend the money, however I’d rather spend it on flicks like gladiator, where I get great cinematography and a decent story.

      Just me.
