HEY REMEMBER THESE CHICKS?

Remember six years ago when we all heard about Prussian Blue? You know, those Olsen twin lookalike Nazis?

Thirteen-year-old twins Lamb and Lynx Gaede have one album out, another on the way, a music video, and lots of fans.

They may remind you another famous pair of singers, the Olsen Twins, and the girls say they like that. But unlike the Olsens, who built a media empire on their fun-loving, squeaky-clean image, Lamb and Lynx are cultivating a much darker personna. They are white nationalists and use their talents to preach a message of hate.

Nazis!

2005. LOL. Those shirts.

One of my readers at the time even lived in the same neighborhood with the girls and made them visit this site…!

Then they grew up a bit.

2007. Like Nazi versions of Lindsay Lohan even.

And then they grew up alot.

2011…WAUGH!

Oh, guess what, they’re not Nazi’s anymore.

Lamb and Lynx Gaede, the dimpled tween rockers whose Nazi-themed pop band, Prussian Blue, sparked an exuberant media firestorm several years back have grown up — and had a change of heart.

“I’m not a white nationalist anymore,” Lamb told The Daily in an exclusive interview, the twins’ first in five years. “My sister and I are pretty liberal now.”

“Personally, I love diversity,” Lynx seconded. “I’m stoked that we have so many different cultures. I think it’s amazing and it makes me proud of humanity every day that we have so many different places and people.”

Full story here.

Funny how things work out!

  2. Lynx was diagnosed with cancer during her freshman year of high school and doctors removed a large tumor from her shoulder. Then she developed a rare condition called CVS, cyclic vomiting syndrome.

I wonder how well her parents think that whole ‘master race’ thing is going.

Impressive as their transformation has been, for instance, their views on World War II still bear traces of the Holocaust denial ideology they were taught as children. For instance, asked whether the Holocaust happened, Lynx replied, “I think certain things happened. I think a lot of the stories got misconstrued. I mean, yeah, Hitler wasn’t the best, but Stalin wasn’t, Churchill wasn’t. I disagree with everybody at that time.”

Lol, how did Churchill get thrown under that bus? False parallel much?

  19. “In 2011, both members officially renounced their past ideologies citing an over bearing sheltering mother as the cause of their racist music. They claim the change came after being prescribed medical marijuana to treat Lynx’s cancer and Lamb’s scoliosis and began accepting a more tolerant view on society, “Personally, I love diversity.. I’m stoked that we have so many different cultures. I think it’s amazing and it makes me proud of humanity every day that we have so many different places and people.. we just want to come from a place of love and light,” said Lynx. Today the twins spend their time painting and plan to enroll in college and pursue legalizing marijuana in all 50 states.”

  20. @18 “Did anyone say compares? Here’s the relevant portion of the quote:

‘I mean, yeah, Hitler wasn’t the best, but Stalin wasn’t, Churchill wasn’t.’

You asked how he was ‘thrown under that bus’…”

“You seem to already know the answer, so fuck off you presumptuous asshole. However, I will note that I don’t think compare and contrast is a reasonable way to judge how bad a person is… I’d say someone who personally tortures even a single person over a long period of time is at least as bad as a person who incites a war. Given that Hitler didn’t single-handedly cause the Holocaust, I’d say his reputation isn’t very well earned.”

“You could say ‘well he was their leader’, or something, but then I’d say that the weak-willed people that followed him are much worse. Then you get to the point where the numbers of Nazis were so great it was dangerous not to follow them, and then could you blame all those soldiers? Not to mention the Jews who, while definitely the victims here, could have chosen to face death with strength rather than shuffle idly into gas chambers.”

“So yeah, I can see where these girls are coming from… You can play the idiotic black and white game, but I’m smarter than that. No reason to beat around the bush.”

    #25 | Comment by Average Frustrated Chump — July 21, 2011 @ 2:07 am

  26. #20: I can’t tell if you’re wanting to be serious, of if you’re just playing devil’s advocate and trolling. Either way, you’re doing these girls a huge favor. You’re trying to bring in a sort of Kantian absolutism, they’re just falling back on the obscurantist / nazi-apologist defense that goes something along the lines of “A lot of bad shit happened in the past on both sides, so we’ll call it equal and move on.”

No no, that is a false parallel of the highest order. This kind of revision is disgraceful. If those girls had truly learned a damn thing, they would be able to say ‘Hitler was a terrible person, and we were fucking stupid to ever pay any attention to this neo-Nazi crap.’ But they won’t, which leads me to suspect they are far from fully rejecting the racist poison that was poured into their ears as infants.

Far from ‘black and white’ history, which you randomly accuse me of, this relativistic bullshit is a sort of ‘indecipherable gray’ history by which we are not allowed to make any judgements about anything in the past.

In reality Hitler’s national socialism was one of the most despicable ideologies the world has ever known. Its whole purposes was to murder vast swathes of the human race in order to purify it and to create living space for its progeny. That *immediately* makes it worse than anything the allied forces did during the war. If you want to imply Kant and the degradation of human rights, look no further than national socialism! This is a movement that systematically devoured human rights like they were going out of fashion.

    #26 | Comment by cobalt — July 21, 2011 @ 7:55 am

  27. Your next point is kinda garbled. I’m guessing you’re presenting the two sides of the culpability argument. On the one hand we have the dictator’s defense that goes something like “Hitler’s ideology was despicable but it was only an ideology, and had people not been willing or weak-willed enough to follow it, nothing serious would have resulted.” On the other we have the classic Nuremberg defense of “I was only following orders” or “they made me do it.” Well, as far as the culpability of German soldiers and civilians goes, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, which I guess is what you’re driving at. But none of that exonerates Hitler, because he didn’t *just* create the ideology, he was also in total dictatorial power at the time. So at any point, he could have stopped the suffering and murder which he was aware of, and which he had ordered. To not stop someone from doing something wrong, when you are completely, uniquely capable of being able to stop them without fear of reprisal, makes you as morally culpable as the person directly carrying out the action.

    #27 | Comment by cobalt — July 21, 2011 @ 7:59 am

  28. Not to mention the Jews who, while definitely the victims here, could have chosen to face death with strength rather than shuffle idly into gas chambers.”

Now this point is fundamentally wrong. *Plenty* of Jews resisted, and were immediately shot. Anyone who showed any form of dissent was shot. Oftentimes people who looked likely to resist – like men of fighting age – were shot pre-emptively.

It’s very difficult to overcome the benefit of hindsight when looking back at the Holocaust now. You have to remember that these people hadn’t seen Schindler’s List. There weren’t news reports explaining what was going on. They couldn’t easily talk to people outside of their immediate social group. Since Hitler’s rise to power their political rights had been systematically dismantled, until they were socially and cultural isolated. It was virtually impossible to organize any large-scale resistance, or to see the necessity of such resistance. But if you don’t think there eventually were efforts at widespread organized resistance, you urgently need to read some more history. Google the Warsaw ghetto uprising and see how that one turned out for the Jews.

Even at the concentration camps, nobody knew the gas chamber was a certainty. Most of the Jews killed in the holocaust were not killed in death camps or in the gas chamber. With the exception of the German high command and Hitler, nobody really knew the details of the death camps until after the war. History had known nothing like it. Once again, you cannot underestimate how easy it is to assume the Jews knew as much as we now know about their situation. So, most of them made the logical decision to work hard and keep a low profile, because they assumed this was the best way to stay alive. If they knew their execution was inevitable, they would probably have resisted and preferred a summary execution to the gas chamber.

As a modern comparison consider 9/11. A dozen or so terrorists armed with crappy improvised switch-blades were able to directly cause 3,000 deaths. And they had no guns, no bombs, not even a machete. Why didn’t the passengers resist? Because they didn’t know they were going to die. They guessed, wrongly, that they had a better chance of staying alive if they kept their heads down. The only reason the United 93 passengers resisted was that they received information about what had happened to the other planes, and effectively saw into the future.

  30. @cobalt “So your argument is ‘Hitler was the most wrong, so clearly no one else is wrong’… That’s as asinine as the insinuation that Hitler wasn’t wrong because everyone was wrong, which wasn’t my point. My point has, and always will be, the people who weren’t wrong are an immense minority compared to the people who were.”

“First of all, I made clear that what I said was that these girls ‘tossed Churchill under the bus’ because, regardless of what Hitler or Stalin did, Churchill was a crazy motherfucker. I love Churchill, personally, because from a historic point of view, he was crazy, old, and hilarious. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t a bigoted warmonger. I don’t care if Hitler summoned Satan himself unto the world, I’m talking objectively not relatively. You, and most of the world, are assholes, most of whom don’t deserve to waste the air, food, and water that passes through your bodies every day. Not because you’re black or white, Christian or Jewish, rich or poor, high class or no class; but because of the simple fact that at the end of the day, even the most basic of your ideologies hurts the existence of our species and our world.”

“You look at the world in a way where you can say ‘America is the best country in the world’ (not literally here, I don’t know if this is your standpoint, it’s just a common example) because we have liberties and freedoms, capitalism, democracy, bs bs bs, etc. I look at it this way, ‘America is a pile of shit, just because every other country is a BIGGER pile of shit, doesn’t mean I’m happy living in shit’. Hitler was one man, regardless of how he got there, in the end, his power came from the allowances of people. Hitler was not single-handedly capable of killing thousands of Germans who didn’t want to commit mass homicide. I don’t care if ‘he started it’, that doesn’t fly in kindergarten, it doesn’t fly here. In fact, it usually makes more sense in kindergarten, but that’s a different point.”

“All told, it’s a pointless and fruitless argument that serves only to allow me to follow my principle that I try to make people realize their stupidity. You won’t, even if you did, you’d be one of billions of idiots. However, when I go to sleep tonight, I’ll know, like always, that I made an effort, and you’re going to ruin your life and the lives of others (regardless of whether or not you see it that way, I don’t care) by existing. So, Fuck You Sir. I’ve got nothing left to say, it’s time consuming, and I’ve fulfilled my obligation to myself.”

If the definition of troll includes me, than it loses its negative connotation for me, because I am amused by people who antagonize idiots on the internet. Ever wondered whether you might be one of the idiots you like to see being “antagonised on the Internet” yourself. That’s how you come across to me. Btw, in most cases, a standard sort of degree will encourage rational and academic thought – it’s just that your defense mechanism surrounding your intelligence interprets this as plain regurgitating when an opinion doesn’t happen to agree with your own. From an objective, rational and distant standpoint, Cobalt clearly knows something about what he saying, and you are a protesting child with a thesaurus.
Your point seems to be that since Churchill was ‘bad’ in some respects, he deserves to be regarded similarly to Hitler. Given your obvious disdain for the rest of the world, is there anyone you wouldn’t hold in the same category hitler? Very useful divining system you have there! And what’s more, it prevents you having to make any sound ethical arguments to back it up. By the way, did you actually pay attention when you were being corrected on several points? That’s how you learn, see. That’s probably what happens sometimes at university – people actually come into contact with people who are smarter than themselves, and maybe have to clam up for a minute and listen.

    1) When using quotes, you should leave them open at the end of the paragraph if the same person will be speaking in the next paragraph.

    2) Adapting to and accepting the world as we live in it allows us to experience a satisfying life despite the fact there are many things we cannot change. Being angry and powerless changes nothing. That’s called emotional intelligence. Settle the fuck down.

    3) This is a site for oogling young woman. I can say assuredly that Hitler and Churchhill would love seeing nekkid girls on this site. Even Jewish girls. But not the cooked ones. See how I did that? You’re in the wrong place for intellectual discourse.

“As for #2, I don’t see it the same way, but I don’t live my life constantly railing against a system I can’t change. I cheat, I fuck with people, and I have no qualms with making stupid people suffer to get ahead. I shouldn’t have to live like that, but I don’t feel bad about it because most people deserve that kind of ire. In the end, it’s not ’emotional intelligence’ to settle for shit, it’s stupid. Justifying being complacent that way is exactly why the world is in the fuckin’ gutter.”

“Per #3, I don’t make personal judgments about people I don’t know. I don’t say it in my arguments because it’s not worth the extra time to explain, but most of my arguments are based on a public perception and the implications therein. However, assuming current knowledge of history is remotely accurate, I feel confident in saying that Hitler is not the grandest evil nor is Churchill any less a warmonger because Stalin and Hitler existed. I also have no doubt that life is not half as precious as people make it out to be, and getting shot is better than being Nazi Germany’s bitch.”

“And finally, #4, well, see darren’s post above mine. However, I do respect that you made a semi-intelligent argument, and were not a total douchebag. I apologize if any of the above comes off as needlessly hostile, you can assume that while I don’t agree with your opinion, my hostility remains aimed at morons like cobalt. 58. # 30: You rage so hard over every little thing, that it’s difficult to make sense of what you say, but for the most part I agree with you on this. I’m no jingoist; you’re fighting a straw man. I never implied Churchill was perfect. Churchill authorized the fire-bombing of Dresden, widely regarded as a war crime. Truman, likewise, dropped an atom bomb on the ‘naval base’ of Hiroshima and another on Nagasaki three days later. The further you look into history, the more you realize the past was a horrible place. And those are only the recorded parts. You allude to the concept of a ‘victor’s history’, and this is very true.

But we still need a historical language that can differentiate Hitler and Churchill, otherwise what we can say about the past is very limited indeed. Hitler was ‘the most wrong’. Even if everyone else was wrong, hideously wrong by modern sensibilities, what Hitler did was more wrong. Implying equivalence between Hitler and Churchill will always be inflammatory and intended largely as provocation or denial or obfuscation, rather than as a serious historical argument. Once again, I believe these girls made that comment simply because they are too proud to openly reject the despicable worldview with which they were indoctrinated.

Finally I’m not sure if you’re suggesting morality is totally relativistic here. But, if that were your point, I don’t agree. The definition of what is ‘ethical’ certainly fluctuates across history and cultures – Jefferson owned 200 slaves, etc – but in general there has been an arc toward liberty and universal human rights. I would see the 20th Century totalitarian regimes as aberrations, not as straight alternatives to the ‘Western’ model of development and democracy. China is probably the most problematic modern case, but even there, we can see a gradual acceptance of greater individual freedoms since the 1980s. The severe limitation of political rights is regarded as a necessary evil to maintain social ‘stability’ during development, not necessarily as a permanent solution. At least, that is the rhetoric the politicians use.

  59. Hitler was not single-handedly capable of killing thousands of Germans who didn’t want to commit mass homicide. I don’t care if ‘he started it’,

This still doesn’t answer the charge that not stopping something, when you are completely, uniquely capable of being able to stopping it without fear of reprisal, is effectively as bad as doing it yourself.

If I see a little kid attacking another little kid with a knife in a classroom, and I don’t stop the kid attacking the other kid, then my inaction is completely reprehensible.

They only discuss Raven-Symone & Lohan, the two chicks who came up through the “Disney Factory”.

As for the rest, varying degrees of success. Of course, the chick featured out front, Alexis Bledel, has probably had the least. She’s all but disappeared.

  61. Of all the life lessons we need to teach our daughters, few are more important than “rip the tags off your bikini before you wear it”

  62. @cobalt “That’s bullshit, if Hitler is completely capable of making that kind of decision, the problem does not lie with Hitler. This is like saying that if I gave 20 people knives and told them to stab someone, and they all did, I would be ‘the most wrong’. We do not live in a world where one would have difficulty doing exactly that without my encouragement, and if all it takes is the encouragement of one man to make people do stupid and evil things, then the true burden of evil lies in the masses, not the commanding individual.”

“Make all the claims you like, you are justifying the idiocy of the majority. The reason why my arguments are garbled is because true insight in the world requires a mind that is capable of understanding that the world is not black and white, or shades of grey even, but millions of colors all at once. It requires that one recognize that all rules have exceptions (even that one), and that right and wrong are not set in stone and morality is just a word. Killing is not evil, if it is, then all must be seen as truly evil. One must accept that every situation has its own rules and ‘ethics’ and must be judged with intelligence, not a set of idiotic and arbitrary rules.”

“Okay, I’ve wasted all the time I intend to on this. As I said before, my obligation to myself was fulfilled a while ago, and while I enjoy the pathetic, idiotic arguments slung at me as a form of entertainment; I too easily get lost in these discussions, trying to find the words to describe things too complex for the short discussions, and likely too difficult for your brain to process.”
