Just arrived. Bought a bunch of 4K Blurays.
This is actually my second time buying 4K Blurays. Picked up Titanic, Avatar and Avatar The Way of Water this time.
What can i say, i have a boner for James Cameron.
I’ve had a 4K UHD Bluray player ever since i got my PS5 back in 2020 but never actually owned 4K Blurays until like a few weeks ago.
My first bunch of 4K Blurays i got over Black Friday:
- The Evil Dead Groovy Collection (1 – 2 – Ash vs Evil Dead Complete Series)
- Army of Darkness
- Evil Dead
- Evil Dead Rise
- Mission: Impossible 1 – 7
- Matrix 1 – 4
- The Princess Bride Criterion Collection
Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Steelbook arrived with a dent. Fucking Amazon and their lazy packing.
My next purchase will be Aliens, The Abyss,True Lies and Darkman once they’re all out in Feb and March.
Contemplating getting the Collector’s Edition for Darkman but $130 bucks is pretty steep for what you actually get (bunch of posters and cards). Might just end up getting the Steelbook on its own.
Well if you like, you should save up and go on a sub ride

Welcome to the club. I tried to get out of the physical media game a couple years ago. I had such high hopes, Disney+, HBO Max, blah blah. I thought I would be able to trust them to have access to everything I’d ever want with just my remote. How naive. Spotify, got me out of CDs, and music piracy. These streaming dick heads have me back into torrenting, running my own media server, and buying my favorites in 4K for posterity. Oh well, IDK, there is something nice about having a pristine copy of your favorite films. Of course, the quality of the transfers and packaging is all over the place, as is the pricing.

same same, digital future. i don’t own a single physical PS5 game and the last time i bought a bluray movie was in sept 2012 which, funnily enough was the avatar 3D bluray and the titanic collectors edition, which i actually posted about

been seeing a bunch of articles lately about the death of physical media and best buy no longer selling physical discs, etc. that sort of triggered me into buying these 4K blurays, in case they actually ever die out someday.
been running a plex server off a raspberry pi for all my digital torrented needs. with the 4K blurays, i plan to collect just my favorites. wont be buying everything under the sun.

I just recently put all my physical movie media (somewhere around 250-ish DVD/Blu-Ray titles) in storage. I think the only 4K movies I own are the Star Wars saga and Robocop.

Damn, you guys are making me want to buy DVDs. I purged my collection years ago, and have done this same thing, buying my favorites. Alien, Blade Runner, etc.

I can’t believe it’s 2024 and Justin is still posting about Titanic on dontlinkthis dot net.
Btw the very first thing I searched for here was the Hermione song and by god it’s still there. From 2005. When Emma Watson was 14.
