6 Degrees of Canadian Bacon…

I’m leaving for a week and out of sheer boredom I wanted to post to say a few things:

Justin, don’t go too gay on me… when I come back I really dont want to see man on man action when I get back… unless it involved Johnny Depp… in that case, just send it to my hous ealong with FUCKING PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN DVD! Which you still have yet to buy, mind you…

Second, I love my iPod. I’m taking a 10 hour drive to Santa Cruz for a week of surfing, and without my iPod I would either die, or kill someone… so much music, I’m never dissapionted. Oh, that and fuck ww.buymusic.com! Those jackasses not only rip off ideal commercials and copyrights from Apple, but they a shitty job of it. Justin and I both use Macs, and there is no disspaointment once again… especially after I just installed my one gig of Memory!

Lastly, who the fuck does Oprah think she is? First of all, this cow and a half gets voted by VH1 to be the number one pop icon… ever. Oprah doesn’t give two shits about popular culture, or those who reside in it, mainly ages 16-29. (just for sm4shy) I think that Elvis would have been a better choice, he affected the popular world, and changed fasions, influences music forever. All Oprah does is sit on her ass and talk more shit then Dr. Phil. Oh, I also forget she makes a magazine named after herslef, also adding to the size of her head… or waistline.

I really think that she was picked because she was black. And that is what I have been noticing a lot lately. In everyone’s attempt to correct racism, they are bumfucking total equality by being overly generous to minoritys, which are, no longer the minority! I live in California where white people are the minority… I’m technically caucasian, but due to being Italian and a nice pair of genes, I’m rather dark… Now there is a law that says that when hiring for a job you HAVE TO interview at least one black person, or one sian person, or any other person of a minority, but there is no law saying that you have to interview a white person! An NFL team was just fined $200,000 for not interviewing a person of a minority when they hired Steve Mariucci as head coach. They didn’t want to interview people, he was the one they wanted for the job, so they went and hired him, not a problem, right? WRONG. Because they picked out a guy they liked, and he happened to be white, the team in 200k in the hole… i don’t think it would cost them a lexus or two if they would have hired a black guy.

Please don’t be so small minded to take this rant as one out of racism, or out of any kind of hate… except for that of Oprah… but I hate Dr. Phil more, and he’s about as redneck as they come…

Until next week…

  1. PacmanJesus-

It is not just an attempt to correct racism. You are missing the bigger picture. It is to buy the black demographic by VH1. They are a LARGE consumer demographic. Unfortunately, they are also one that tends to ‘fall for the marketing’ so it works usually, as well.

It is a trend that has suddenly cropped up in advertising/entertainment.

  2. Tell me about it. I slave away at both schoolwork and crummy after-school jobs in an effort to earn scholarships for college–I end up scoring a 3.9GPA and a 1410 on my SATS, and earn a moderately-sized-yet-underscored scholarship, just to find out later that they give the same-sized scholarship to a black person at my school who only got a 900 on their SATs. >:O

    It’s called reverse racism……….

  5. I’m not going to claim this theory as my own, but I heard it once and it makes a lot of sense. Its called the see-saw theory. Basically the idea is that racism works in a see saw fashion, where the side on the bottom is oppressed and the side on top is living fine. See around the 60’s during all that affirmitive action the black people were at the bottom of the see-saw. During the 70’s, things were pretty level between white and black people. During the 80’s and 90’s, the see-saw started to move higher in favor of black people. Basically what this all means is that one "people" get oppressed, than the other, and it would go back and forth. Its interesting, and it almost seems like it could be true.

  6. That seesaw theory makes a lot of sense.

    And it explains so much…

When I was 5, I didn’t understand why my family had to move out of our house so the Freeman family could move in. They just said: "it’s the 80s now, things are different." The Freemans moved into our suburban home and we were sent to live in the ghetto.

Of course, Mr. Freeman was given my Daddy’s job, and my father couldn’t get hired anywhere else because he was white — and in Regan’s America, the Black Man was king.

My father ended up leaving, and I was forced to join a gang … but that’s just the way things were.

I wish I had lived in the 60s, when white people were at the top of the seesaw. Because all that I’ve ever known has been whitey being held down by the power of the Black Man.

  14. All of the things you guys are mentioning are because of a little thing called Political Correctness. Because of people wanting to be as PC as possible we’ve actually become less and less politically correct. The quotas would be a good example of this, because someone’s in a minority they shouldn’t be raised above someone who isn’t. It seems that because blacks, asians, latinos, native americans were at some point oppressed we should make up for that by rewarding there decedents who never experienced that oppression. Because that makes good sense.

I personally can trace my family tree back to prove that I have some of just about everything in me, but because I’m visually white, I’m caucasian. No one asks me about what its like to be mostly italian, or how much Native American I have in me, or what tribe specifically my ancestor hailed from. And its all because I’m white. But I don’t really mind, white people as a whole have had this coming ever since we landed on American, it’s funny though, that the biggest-stupidass redneck white-power style guy is the president. But theres still a societal backlash against white people. A nice deep irony for any of you who are paying attention.

But if you want real proof that are society is becoming to politically correct for our own good, don’t take my word for it, simply look back at the "The more you know" commercials so commonly put on by NBC. In the late 80’s and Early 90’s the commercials all had the same slogan, "Embrace people because even though were different, we’re all the same." And now the commercials have changed to "We should respect and reward people because there different." Another way to point out our societies futile attempt to back-pedal.

And by the by, it’s not reverse-racism, if a black man hates a white man simply because he’s white. Its racism. By using the phrase reverse-racism your embracing the Politically Correct spin on Political Correctness in general. So by defying the politcally correct "see-saw" movement we’re on now, you’re actually embracing it. Another little irony for those of you who are paying attention.

  15. Because TheFirstAmy seemed bothered that I shared the same name, I’m reverting to my birth name, which is (strangely enough) amy2.

There was no other amy in my family, making my name even stranger, and a huge shot at my self-esteem growing up.

James, that was far too intelligent a bit of writing for the comments section here. But those of us paying attention liked it.

But the proof you give for this problem — "… society is becoming to politically correct for our own good…" shows what the real problem is. We tried to be a "melting pot". As a country, we honestly believed the best way for all these different races and cultures to get along would be to pretend that we’re all the same. Clearly, however, there needs to be a standard we’re all expected to "melt" to. The underlying message was that everyone else should conform to me (a WASP).

That (obviously) didn’t work. Because (gasp) we ARE all different, and that IS okay. I don’t know if society is trying to "back-pedal" in as much as they are trying to recognize that we can’t all be expected to "melt".

And yes, shit is crazy and misguided right now, but this societal backlash against white people is imagined. We’re a young country. Eventually we’ll all learn how to live together.

Conservatives like to point out the "racist" nature of Black Entertainment Television, or the UNCF. I honestly believe the key is in recognizing that there is room for BET in this country, just as sure as there is for "Must See TV".

Look at how long it took for slavery to end and the civil rights movement to begin. Look at how little time has passed since we’ve stopped saying — "We love you black people because you’re just like us!"

Calling yourself "African-American" is not subtracting from your Americanism, it’s acknowledging that you aren’t going to fit into the 1980s black mold (that white people created with Different Strokes).

We need to allow a little "backlash", because it’s all part of trying to figure out how we’re going to exist together.

They don’t need to rename the Grand Ole Opry — "White People Singing", it’s just understood. Perhaps if they took all refrences to race out of black organizations, conservatives would be appeased. HHT (Hip Hop Television) replaces BET. The BBC (Bling Bling for College) replaces the UNCF.

We’re fine-tuning it along the way.

    Eventually we’ll figure it out.

  16. So unfortunately the racism issue has remained unresolved, but by your posts you have proved one thing, that Americans are not only incredibly stupid but also superficial and naive, with no real concept of subjects like anthropology and evolutionary biology as well as a whole host of socio-ethical issues. Don’t split yourselves along race lines and don’t hate each other, because you need strength in numbers because I can assure you all that the rest of the world barring Israel hates you even more, and their loathing unlike that which you have for yourselves is timeless. So harp on about racial issues and affirmitive action, and miss the big picture, which is that you guys are at war and your real enemy does give two-shits what colour or religion you are, his only concern is that you suffer and his only wish that you die. These are not in any way my feelings, but have some solidarity you idiots, or you too stupid to see the big picture.

  17. I think that everyone should quit crying and agree to be on one level, ground zero. I’ll admit, things like the UNCF piss me off to no extent, and the NAACP…..no. African Americans want ‘whites’ to treat them as equals. But then u make a NEGRO college fund which simply whines to the public and cries out "We’re not as well off as whites are…*boohoo*… therefore we’re automatically at an educational disadvantage." But, You let your kids idolize these loser rapers that praise the ‘pimp’ style of life, where comming from a ghetto neighborhood makes u ‘hard’ and a ‘thug’…and treat women as if they were cattle. Not to mention the concept of being in gangs, wearing your pants around your ankles and walking like your legs are in splints…that’s the coolest… I am white. I was never told to dislike colored people, I was never forced to believe in the supremecy of one race over another. My dislike for the ways the general population of colored people live has grown on me over the years. The way they’re inconsiderate, and plain out heartless in some manners. They’d rather shoot up a corner store for a few hundred dollars that go and find an actual job. Some of them are brought up and taught how to work the government and get as much free stuff as they possibly can. (i.e. public housing, well-fare, food stamps, and more specific colored only organizations) And instead of the Government actually stepping out and saying no to this they step back like cowards and try to be politically correct. We gave them an inch and they took a mile. And until people as a whole realize this and are willing to come to an agreement to be on ONE level, it’ll get worse. On another note: Rome fell when they tried to please all classes…the middle and lower classes…they had *believe it or not* a well-fare system and put more time into making the public happy than properly governing their empire. Our government does NOT need internal wars, that is when a nation fails. When it crumbles from the inside out. I use to box for a hobbie, i wasn’t the best in the world but i wasn’t bad. But, no matter how well i was, when i was sick i was useless, all that knowledge of boxing was there, but i wasn’t able to perform it on even a novice level because i wasn’t able to control my well being as a whole. We need to be ONE NATION and help one another before it’s too late to help ourselves as a whole…
