Well fuck me. Infernal Affairs is actually getting a US release. Never thought i'd ever see that day coming. Figured they'd just get the remake out without ever showing the original on these shores.

<li><A HREF="http://www.apple.com/trailers/miramax/i ... fairs.html" target="_blank">Infernal Affairs</a> (US trailer)

I've already <A HREF="/archives/1001">written at length</a> about how good these movies are (it's a trilogy) and i wholeheartedly recommend catching this movie at your local movie theater if you can. I don't think it's getting a wide release though. Probably just in major cities like LA, NY and SF or wherever. But definitely worth watching.

Comes out September 24th.

I thought they were there's going to be a remake of it with Leonardo Dicaprio (Justin's favourite actor from titanic) and some other actor. Its been like 2 year since it has been release. Now there releasing it here?

Edit: Can't seem to tell time anymore, is it still 1999?

Possibly the best chinese show ever. They gonna be releasing it as a trilogy or just the one movie? It'd be shit if they dubbed the whole thing. Totally ruin the whole movie.

i doubt they'll be <a href='http://home.comcast.net/~hortinstein/booya.mpeg' target='_blank'>releasing</a> the <a href='http://www.consumptionjunction.com/down ... _31625.wmv' target='_blank'>prequel</a> or the direct sequel (IA3) over here.

It took them 3 fucking years to release Hero here. Stupid Miramax. Since it did so well they're probably going to release all the Asian films that they've been sitting on the rights to and not capitalizing on. So, yes, Infernal Affairs is being released here before the remake. But the rest of the trilogy is probably not going to be.

I hate Miramax so much.

This was posted on August 28th on <a href='http://www.themovieblog.com/archives/20 ... edule.html' target='_blank'>themovieblog.com</a>:

Right. Now that Miramax has finally gone ahead and released Hero and a butchered version of Shaolin Soccer - the uncut, Cantonese version on the North American DVD apparently has faulty and missing subtitles, by the way - the discerning, Miramax hating Asian film fan was just getting all primed up to go on a rant about how they're currently burying the brilliant crime-thriller Infernal Affairs, which is now so old that it's a full fledged trilogy in Asia. But wait! Has the advance buzz and good early box office on Hero finally convinced Miramax to open up the vault? Have they finally realized that any box office revenue is more than the big ol' zero they draw while leaving this films in the vault? Maybe so.

After being delayed and finally dropped from the release schedule entirely Infernal Affairs is back on the radar at Miramax, and surprisingly they're not even waiting for the Scorsese remake to wrap up to capitalize on the marketing punch of that film. According to Monkey Peaches Infernal Affairs is currently slated for a September 17th release here in North America. They even went and made their own poster for it.

Yeah, so maybe the release date is a little off but this was posted there nearly a month ago. So who knows. At least it's gonna be in theaters. I can't fucking wait!!

Edit to add poster and link

You have to see them all to get the full story. Can be hard to follow if you just skip to IA 2 and/or 3, or don't have a good understanding of the previous film when you see the next.

I believe this is becoming the trend now-days, Justin, to release a movie and the remake virtually simultaneously. I'll have to recheck but a flick Tom Cruise is working on is doing the same thing.

Worked for the sales of Ringu...why not see if it works for the movie ticket sales as well?

You only need to watch first one to get the basics and part three is just added stuff. Part two was practically bullshit.

Put it this way, compared to part one and three, part two was the worst.. I suppose it helped to develop their character etc etc.
