Ok, everyone has seen em. Most have a couple of favorites. Sports movies are as american as the sports they depict through film.

Only one problem. There is only like one (maybe two) movie(s).

If you have seen one you have seen em all. Its always main character falls from grace, joins team, through trials understands the meaning of team work, comes out on top becuase of new found realizations of what it takes to be a team.

There is almost no dievation from that plot line. Its always the same. A short list ( and trust me there are ALOT more, but for the sake of time) to refresh your memory.

Mighty Ducks
D2
Field of Dreams
Mr. 3000
Juwana Man
That one with Charlie Sheen
The sequel to the one with Charlie Scheen where he becomes a big(ger) pussy.
Hoosiers
Radio
Friday Night Lights
The Natural
Longest Yard
Jerry McGuire (the sports aspects anyways)
Rocky Movies
Bad News Bears
The Longest Yard

They are ALL THE SAME. Its the same story over and over. I like to watch movies with friends so one night a week we will all get together and rent movies but no one in my group seems to be bothered by this every time the majority wants to see another damned sports movie. I am starting to think I am a little crazy (ier).

Anyways, anyone else notice this?

I think Bull Durham breaks the pattern. Also I'm not sure I see it in Field of Dreams. Basically Kevin Costner breaks the mold. But he still sucks when he's not making baseball movies.

I like my sports movies the same way i like most other things. Involving naked women.

Wait, do adult films with naked women wrestling and the loser getting fucked by the winner with a strap-on in a flurry of lesbian vigor classify as a "sports" movie? Cause wrestling is a sport.

Coach Carter was pretty much the same up until the end. Took me by surprise.

What about Dodgeball?
