Hmm...

A cursory search doesn't reveal that this one has been used, but some similar ones have. If you know it, give answer please.

I swear it has. And I think by that goddamn steampunk.

I'd say he's old enough to be in Saving Private Ryan, but sadly I'm almost as old. :(

Anyways, it is The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is a World War II cemetery and memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France, that honors American soldiers who died in Europe during World War II.

Grrr. Image not displaying.

(neither is Smash's avatar, atm, either, so I assume it's just a down connection or site and not an error.)

Well, it wasn't what I thought it surely was. Time to ponder and wander.

Psst. That's for a reason. Look at the other buildings/things around there.

No one has a guess? Not even Angelbaby? What the hell?

I've uploaded it in case it doesn't load again. My host is crapping out lately.

My first reaction, given Smashy's "hints" is Olympics. ...A ridiculous fiasco that means nothing anymore, thanks to it being hosted in a country that neglects civil rights of any sort, nevermind countless other factors including commercialization, the allowing of professional athletes, and the breaking up of the event into 2-year segments (summer/winter).

Analyzing the largest building in the image given, there may be an olympic symbol on it (5 rings conjoined), but, upon analysis, this structure is not part of the Beijing olympic events that take place this year. Whoopee.

Then again, I could be dead wrong, but those are the clues that I have perceived and, unfortunately, just don't have the time to follow up on.

Sorry, Smash. The other "buildings/things" around there don't speak to me at all, at least without the depth of thought that I can't afford to spend on it at the moment. (For what it's worth, that makes it a good puzzle.)

The other building should have clued you in on the types of events that would have been held way back when here. There's a swimming pool. A track and field. So you are doing good. You just haven't thought through some more of my verbal clues.

It's not that Olympics held by the Chinee! Bronze medal so far!

I'm really surprised that Angelbaby hasn't solved this.
