What kind of rig are you running?

Macho-geekdom

I just got a quad core (2.6 and made sure it was Pentium and not one of those cheap Athlon processors) 2GRAM upgradable to 4 with a 8600GTSX vid card w TV tuner etc.

DVI to HDMI cable on order. Damn stores don't stock 25 foot cables of that type. ty Ebay.

22 inch monitor is the same I had before.

Running the good old Vista OS that got released in October that didn't require any activation key etc.
DLT Prom Queen 4 years running.

Not quite up to the specs of yours, but I get by....

Athlon 64 3400 (good chip, but it's recently become a slight bottleneck for new games)
ATI X1950Pro 512
2GB OCZ Platinum
10K RPM SATA drive
19" Sony LCD

I'm able to play Crysis at 1280x1024 on high settings (only stutters on heavy action), so I'm content for a while.

I have 3 hp pavilion ze5300 notebooks. All second-hand.

A short bout of googling tells me that means

2.8-GHz Pentium 4
15" screen
and uh, I don't know what any of that other stuff is. They don't have enough RAM to run the WOW trial, I remember that. Also, it's got a burner apparently. I run XP because it was there.

One doesn't have a keyboard or a functioning USB port, one's harddrive might be fried, I've just been letting it sit for a couple of months. All of them are finicky when it comes to taking AC power.

I am able to store literally hundreds of pictures, text files and MP3s on them, as well as play emulated SNES and Genesis games.

Although the one with iTunes on it is the one whose harddrive might be fried, so I haven't been able to update my iPod in a while.

22" wide LCD
AMD X2 4200
2GB Kingston HyperX DDR2
Radeon 1950 Pro PCI-E 256
~1TB storage spread over 5 SATA drives of varying sizes
Vista Home Premium
And I would have a SoundBlaster Audigy2, but Creative blows at the whole driver making thing.

I've had the same desktop for near 5/7 years now, with only minor upgrades (like a cheap GFX card, and an extra ram stick over time) it's managed to keep up with most games.

It's only now with the influx of shader and physics heavy games does my ancient cpu and gfx card struggle under the pressure.

Athlon Barton XP 2500+@3200+
1gb Samsung 11-3-3-2.5 ram
Ati X800xt 256mb
19 Inch CRT IIYAMA screen 1 + 37" Hannspree 1080i LCD screen 2

I just got a new work laptop which is quite a beast, the only downside being that the gfx card is meant for 3D design and is only equivalent to a 7900GT in D3D performance.

Dell M90 T7200 Intel Core 2 Duo 4mb Cache (2ghz, 65nm)
2GB (Mosel.....never heard of em)
Nvidia Quadro 1500m 256mb
80gb 5,4000rpm HD
17inch Screen (1440 x 900 Native)
20x DVD writer

Crysis demo runs well on it, although not at max details, but it's really just to tide me over until price drops in january. I have my eye on this really decent pre-overclocked rig for 700 quid with a C2Duo 8800gtx etc. If it drops anywhere near 600 I'll hop straight on it.

I cant believe you only paid $250 for that. Over here I'd by looking at €297 which is roughly $426. I considered buying one for my gf for Christmas.
