Guitar Heroine?

Post by AngelBaby » 22 Apr 2007 01:41

I played GH2 at a friend's place last weekend, and I have to say it's the first game I've experienced that made me almost drive to Best Buy and pickup an Xbox360. I could see myself getting seriously addicted.

I did think of one thing that would make it an absolute killer app, though. The ability for individuals to write GH "tablature" for favorite songs from their own music libraries and upload them into the game. Does anyone know if this is likely to be a possibility? It would be super coo.

Officially? No. Licensing fees and copyright get in the way.

However some enterprising individuals over at Scorehero.com have managed to streamline a method for using your own music. You have to go through a pretty detailed process, but the instructions are laid out well, and it looks kind of fun.

Instructions at: http://www.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopi ... 57d56c6dab

You'd need a modded ps2 to play the version of the game you generate, but no idea where you could find one of those...

You could always try Frets on Fire. Cross-platform and compatible with the X-Plorer controller, but your mileage may vary. However, I guess it is possible to rip songs and create tablature from it for that game. I think I read all of that information correctly, at least. I could be totally off.

However, computers are just not cool, and free software, such as Frets on Fire, is even less cool than that. But, you know how uncool I am? I prefer to play a real guitar. Sadly, it's actually easier to play "Heart Shaped Box" and "Killing in the Name Of" on a real guitar than it is to play on that silly controller.

i'm a Guitar Hero addict for sure. I have yet to find anyone that doesn't have a blast at this game. I mean, I'm decent but not great and still can never put this game down. We even have started a Guitar Hero night at this bar I go to so we can play it on their big screens. My only complaint is that there is far too much metal in the second one.
