Re: TV NEWS
I'm surprised No Ordinary Family didn't survive, but I suspect the budget on that show is up there.
Detroit 187 makes me mad. But Michigan just killed it's fledgling movie industry, thanks to our new Republican 'fuck 'em' governor.

Re: TV NEWS
Well, given how Detroit 187 ended the season, it was pretty clear they had advance notice they wouldn't be back. Given that, I'm happy with the way they wrapped things up. Kind of like when Life got the axe.
But V, The Event and No Ordinary Family were just beginning to get interesting. So of course they'd yank the rug right out from under them, and give an extra season to shows that have either worn out their welcome (I'm looking at you, Chuck) or have big names associated with them (Kathy Bates and David E. Kelley...I don't know a single person who watches Harry's Law). I'm also stunned that Happy Endings won't be...ending, as they've been blowing through their initial order at the rate of two eps a week (I do like this sitcom though, it's what Olivia Munn probably wishes she'd have gotten on instead of Perfect Couples). And Body of Proof? Meh. It's okay, but it's yet another crime forensics procedural, and don't we have enough of those already?

Re: TV NEWS
Also, where else can they go from here? I mean, we've had lesser demons, higher demons, journeys to hell and back, rogue archangels, Satan, Eve....... there doesn't seem like there's anywhere else for it to go. I liked the soulless Sam angle, and previous deal arcs where they both were trying to find solutions out of problems, but if the last few episodes are any indication, with the betrayal and purgatory taking center stage, they're gonna possibly drag this story through to the next season. Either that or they just come up with something new....but like I said, what? what else is there?smash wrote:I love that Supernatural is still going (it's renewed again). I like this show, don't get me wrong. It's just that Series Creator, Eric Kripke, left as a writer last year. In part, because he had a definitive plan for the show and that plan had run its course. He has a ironic article from Entertainment Weekly where he says Lost had lost its way by writing to the fans desires instead of sticking to a plan. 2 years ago he was adamant that 5 seasons and out, then he softened to 6. Now it looks like there's a seventh already ordered.
Re: TV NEWS
It honestly should have ended with season 5. Kripke was right, he had a plan and he should have made them stick with it.efilflah wrote:Also, where else can they go from here? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the show (not entirely sure why I do ... ) but the last season has just been them wandering around trying to make unimportant sound important. After an apocalypse... they fought... fairies?

Re: TV NEWS
NBC is still filling more time with crap reality shows...clearly they have decided to take the cheap production route instead of long term value. Shame.
I agree with Angelbaby, I don't know of a soul that watches Harry's Law. I guess it's the same bible belters that made Touched by an Angel and Seventh Heaven stay on tv so many years?

Re: TV NEWS
I was unaware that Harry's Law was a show that leaned heavily on Christian family values. Most of David E. Kelley's stuff has a decidedly liberal slant, so I'd be shocked if "bible-belters" are the ones keeping this on the air.smash wrote:I agree with Angelbaby, I don't know of a soul that watches Harry's Law. Re: TV NEWS
I watched the first 4 episodes of Harry's Law, and as boring as it was, I think this might be a case of Smash talking out of his ass.AngelBaby wrote:I was unaware that Harry's Law was a show that leaned heavily on Christian family values. I haven't watched a single episode, there's no ass for me to talk out of. I said "I guess". What I was driving at is it's the same white bread, old, enjoying boring demographic.
