What upcoming games are you most looking forward to?

Post by efilflah » 06 Sep 2006 03:04

So as the title states, what games (on any platform) are you most looking forward to in the coming months/years/weeks or whenever?

Be as specific as you'd like, explain why, post pics/videos, hopes and expectations whatever, just make sure it's about games.

Also, keep the fanboyishness to a minimum please, if you're gonna spout shit about why you think a game will suck, at least justify it with something. If there's one thing I can't stand is blind faith followers of anything.

This gaming forum needs more love, so lets sex it up y0.

Me, I'm looking forward to Crysis for the PC, not that I'll be able to run it, but graphics aside (it's probably the best looking game I've ever seen, HDR, motion blur and soft shadows oh my!), it's being made by Crytek who made the excellent Far Cry, which in my opinion was on par if not better than a certain Physics ridden sequel that was also released soon after.

If they can keep the illusion of free-roaming environments with a decent story and plenty of well-placed action I reckon it'll be a hit just like Far Cry was.

I'm also looking forward to Kane:Lynch which is a while away yet, but apparantly inspired by Michael Mann movies and being made by IO (makers of the Hitman series which I really like).

How about yous?

Gears of war is a run and gun 3rd person shooter for the xbox360 that uses the fancy Unreal3 engine to power it. It's being touted as a "killer app", one of the ones everyone's been raving about for years, mainly 'cos it's pretty.

It reminds me of the game Killswitch, which was very similar in gameplay from the looks of it. You move your character from cover to cover taking out the enemy, gradually progressing through the levels, you could even do random firing over the top without looking, but it was much less accurate.

Only problem with Killswitch was that it got so damned repetitive and dull, GOW looks to probably improve on the mechanics moreso than just adding fancy graphics also concentrating on a story to keep you interested...I wonder if it'll be enough though.

Twilight Princess.

It's the reason I bought a GC this past Christmas. I hadn't played video games for years and didn't really miss them. It had never occured to me to buy my own system until I heard about the new Zelda game.

I didn't think much of Windwaker at the time but came to like it.

EDIT:

I found this and it is strange

I was REALLY keen about the new Superman 360 game but all this hush hush production delays from EA is making me really sceptical about its quality.

Probably Viva Pinata and DOA Xtreme 2 is what I'll be trading my LOTR:BMEII and Rumble Roses for.

Rumble Roses - somehow it ain't fun without nude-age.

Crysis = O.M.G.

I'm so upgrading my rig to play this (when I got monies).

Fly through HD trailer......it's the most complete level of realism I've ever seen for a game.

From the mist spray of the waves lapping against the shore, to the reflective surfaces of the shiny objects and foliage, this game looks amazing.

They really need to make a MMORPG with that sort of realism.

I hate FPS's.
