Are there any players on here? Where do you play?

What are some of techniques for drafts?

Who's more important RB or QB?

I want to learn, but I hardly know anything about individual players. I just started getting into football last year.

So, anybody who responds to this thread, please keep in mind that there's someone watching who wants to learn a thing or two.

Is it okay for me to say I think that the RB and QB are equally important?

I will always take a RB before a QB. I find the overall points potential are higher with Running Backs, than with QB's.

My first pick is always LaDanian Tomlinson (aslong as he is available).
I've always been able to pick up a QB in late rounds which perform well. Brady tends to hang around. I go for consistency.

I just asked the bf, and he said always take a RB before a QB.

That's two against one. I'm such an obvious n00b.

RB is most important.

Actually two RBs are most important.

In the ideal draft you would have two starting feature backs and two top WRs before drafting a QB.

Don't draft a kicker or a defense until the last four rounds.

And don't count on rookies. Its okay to draft rookies late. But don't build your team on rookies.

Most of the time RB > QB, but it can change depending on the score structure.

That having been said, I took Peyton Manning first in my first draft this year, and running back is probably my weakest position. I was in a funny place with my draft.

The only place that taking Peyton is a possibility is the very last pick of the first round. I would still rather get Ronnie Brown, Brian Westbrook, and (if you insist on taking a QB next) Tom Brady rather than Peyton Manning, Ronnie Brown, and Kevin Jones.

Also, Brady and Palmer put up Peyton-esque numbers last year, even outdoing him in certain categories...so Peyton is no longer in a tier to himself.

The best value in round one is always (and by always I mean 98% of the time) RB.

Side note: if you take Steve Smith or T.O. in the first round you will not win your league.

The keeper league I have with my buddies counts points for receptions. If you play a league like this, taking a dominant WR isn't such a bad idea.

Does this league also have points for carries for RBs and completions for QBs?

Well you're the fantasy expert Phife, I guess you're right.

For most leagues, two great starting RBs are best for round 1 + 2 because you have to start two of them and the league is so short on great RBs. Most NFL teams seem to be doing that damned comittee thing which raises the value of LT and Alexander.

However, I have played in a league one season that had two quarterbacks. In that case it's important to draft a couple of QBs in your top 3 picks.
