  16. I saw an interview a while back with Halle saying that she wasn’t the "catwoman" from the Batman comics. She said that "apparently" there are a whole bunch of catwomen that no one ever hears about. What a bunch of bullshit that is. Oh and the movie looks like it’s gonna suck ass.

    I’ll probably still go see it just so I can find more reasons to complain about it

I don’t think that Halle is the best actress in the world, but she’s not THAT bad. And even if the movie is bad, it’d be worth my 8 bucks to see her run around in tight leather.
    And may I remind you that the first woman to play Catwoman in film was Ms. Eartha Kitt… who was multiracial.
    I don’t care if you think the movie is bad or not, but who the hell cares what color the person is that plays the hero is!?

    I agree, one thing is speak of the horrible casting this movie has, another is to use words like "nigger". My disagreements with the casting of Halle Berry is much more profound then simply just her race.

    Halle Berry is not a good actress. I hate to be the one to say it, but she didnt really deserve the Oscar, it had more to do with her being an African American then any actual raw talent. Halle Berry came out of the beauty pageant circuit and decided she wanted to be an actress, and she hasnt gone much furthur then that, a pretty girl with nice boobs but no real talent as far as acting goes. Shit, even Puff Daddy had a better performance in "Monster’s Ball" then Berry. Most of the praise was people in Emperor’s new clothes effect, praising her because she was an obviously attractive African American woman not wearing as much make up as usual. I dont know about you, but she didnt seem to be a poor,widow, mother of a fat kid in the deep south to me.

    Its a shame that she is now seen as some sort of heroine in the African American community, especially considering her overall lack of talent and only one real asset: her looks.

    Its an even bigger shame, because of the huge amount of African American actresses who are highly better actors then her but dont get the kind of recognition she does because they dont fit Hollywood’s standards of beauty. Shes obviously half white, half black, but barely has any real Black features besides her obvious skin tone. So, what does this say to African Americans? "You’ll only be pretty if you have white features, otherwise we’ll ignore you all together. Oh but dont get us wrong, we absolutly love your skin tone, its just all those features on your face that we dont want"

    My objections with the casting of Halle Berry as Catwoman is this: She doesnt fit the role, especially on such a well known character like Catwoman.

    Okay, i’ll give you an example: My favorite actor of all time has to be the great Peter O’Toole. Now, one of my all time favorite movies has to be the "Star Wars" triolgy (The original of course)Now, no matter how much I adore O’Toole, he would have made a terrible Luke Skywalker. Why? Because he just doesnt fit the role.

    As far as my fantasy casting for Catwoman, it would have to be Sean Young (Circa late eighties/early ninties) or Isabella Rosselini (Who’s still smoking to this day)

    Personally, I think Moira Kelly would have also done a good job, but I’d understand if most people disagreed with me.

    And yes bligityblah, i’d probably do her if given the chance, but I wouldnt pay to do it 😉

    Bruce Wayne/Batman: Johhny Depp (Interesting casting, I know, but I still think this man can tackle anything)
    Alfred: Sir Ian McKellan
    Robin: Wes Bently (Not the world’s greatest actor, but I think he could handle the part)
    Riddler: Jim Carrey (He was perfect for the role, too bad the movie sucked)
    Joker: Jack Nicholson did a superb job
    Catwoman: As I mentioned before Sean Young or Isabella Rosselini
    The Penguin: Danny DeVito also kicked ass in that

    If you take great offense to being called something then ask yourself how closely you resemble the slur? I really doubt anyone will ever use the ‘n’ word to describe me or even to try to insult me. It just doesn’t fit.

    Personally I don’t use the ‘n’ word out loud but I sometimes think it when confronting some folks from the ‘hood’. Am I being racist? I don’t think so because it’s not the color I’m judgnig but the mentality and the attitude. I know there are dark skinned people who would consider me a racist for using a word that means something to them that it doesn’t mean to me.

    And in case you all missed the point, the problem is that I (as do we all) judge people. And if anyone tells you they don’t, ask them how long they’ve had that lying problem.

    Steven Tyler had the greatest line in a song that I’ve ever heard when he sang "if you can judge a man by the color of his skin then, brother, you’re a better man than I". Truer words were never spoken.

    Halle Berry is so not hot, and she looks more white to me than black. I wouldn’t rent Swordfish on $1 night to check her out, but if it came on HBO I’d watch a few extra minutes if I knew the payoff was near. But I wouldn’t wait 30 minutes… After all, I’d probably have a better chance of seeing better boobies on Fubar if we can get past this fucking thread!

  190. This must have really hit a chord with me because I can’t seem to let it go. Let me share an experience with you all and see what you have to add.

    I know a 2nd shift warehouse manager who lost his temper and then his job because he called one of his flunkies a "stupid bastard". Never mind that this flunkie had several warnings for sub-standard work. Never mind that this flunkie was eventually fired because he couldn’t work at required speed or with required accuracy.

    What’s at issue is that this "stupid bastard" never heard his supervisor ever call one of the white flunkies by any slang terms, and so he felt singled out by his blackness. The flunkie admitted that he wasn’t called by a racial slur, but got a lawyer to agree that there was enough chance that he had been racially profiled by this supervisor that they had a case.

    The company tucked tail and promptly fired this supervisor’s white ass. I understand that he had a pretty good track record of improving company standards and increasing productivity over the previous 3 years. The threat of a racial lawsuit and the publicity was enough to warrant the company backing down.

    Stupid flunkie bastard wasn’t there 6 months.

    Did the stupid bastard get anything else, like money, out of the deal? No, all he got was the satisfaction of having the stupid white supervisor terminated as punishment for the reprehensible crime of ‘possible racial profiling’. I think he wanted money, but he got squat.

    Oh and did I mention that on this 2nd shift that there are nearly equal parts white, black and brown (hispanic) people. No one interviewed thought the stupid white supervisor exhibited a racially discriminatory attitude.

    Stupid white supervisor’s wife also worked for the same company and lost her job because of a possible "security risk". Now they both collect unemployment and try hard to keep a house and food available for their 3 kids. Stupid white supervisor lost his new truck, but fortunately wife’s car was paid for.

    One possible moral of this story: if you’re going to call *anyone* a "stupid bastard" then you better call *everyone* a "stupid bastard".

    I know, maybe not first hand, that the "black experience" is littered with wrongdoings. I don’t see that this manager wronged anyone – but if it was morally wrong to call someone a "stupid bastard" it wasn’t a racially motivated response.

    This is a case of a black person using the system against a white person just because they could. Maybe the "white experience" isn’t as great as some blacks out there make it out to be.

    Does this mean that the stupid black bastard owes the stupid white supervisor a mule and 20 acres?

    Blacks make up a large proportion of the American population, while Asians make up a smaller number. Asians were not under the auspices of slavery to the extent of Africans. Asians or any other ethnicities were not treated as harshly nor endured longer racism than the Blacks. I am an asian and I have never been called a chink and I do not feel the word "chink" has been used to the degree of the word "nigger."

    Whites were not called crackers by other whites or even blacks to the extent of the usage of the word "nigger."

    This is where minorities and the majority’s thinking differ. Blacks and other minorities still think segregation occurs.

    Most whites believe in equality rather than equity. This is understandable since they are of the majority. I won’t argue for my stance on Affirmative Action because i think its depends on the individual’s upbringing and ethnicity.

  205. I just saw Troy today (which was the most dissapointing movie i have seen in a long time) and one of the previews was for the Catwoman movie. And its going to suck so hard that it could get chrome off a bumper. It just looks bad. Race ain’t got anything to do with it either. The plot summery that i have read as well as the super lame costume are the main downfalls of this shitbomb. Halle is wicked hot, so i understand trying to make the costume skimpy to show off her body, but the ears look fucking retarded. I think they could have made the "many catwomen over time" thing if they had put more thought into it. but they didn’t, and so it shall suck.

    And Troy was so very disapointing. I was hoping for so much more, and i was pissed that they so totally changed the Trojan myth.
