Hooray for 15 month old links!

I believe Linkin Park qualifies as emo music no? As in “oh gnos i’m so emotional i feel so wounded and abused and nobody loves me and i want to die kill me okay thanks bye” kinda music right? I wouldn’t know. I don’t listen to them and i still don’t know what emo is. So let the ignorance continue!

I asked Susan what emo was last year. This was what she had to say.

13/10/02 1:22 AM
psykotik2k: what’s a emo
suzi onCRACK: a emo?
psykotik2k: is that like an emu?
suzi onCRACK: hahahahha
suzi onCRACK: shut up.
psykotik2k: an ostrich!!
psykotik2k: 😀
psykotik2k: emu!
suzi onCRACK: EMO. emotional. like dashboard confessional
suzi onCRACK: that likes emo music
psykotik2k: emu!
psykotik2k: never heard of them
suzi onCRACK: and is sensssssitive
suzi onCRACK: and wears horn rimmed glasses
suzi onCRACK: and cute thrift store shirts
psykotik2k: i know avril!
psykotik2k: 😀
psykotik2k: why do you have to make things so complicated??
suzi onCRACK: 😀

Well that didn’t really help.

So 5 months later, i decide to ask her again.

21/3/03 3:57 PM
psykotik2k: what is emo?
psykotik2k: i do not understand
suzi onCRACK: you are emo!
psykotik2k: =(
suzi onCRACK: emo = emotional
suzi onCRACK: boys who cry.
psykotik2k: you!
suzi onCRACK: dashboard confessional.
suzi onCRACK: im not emo.
psykotik2k: you cry
psykotik2k: many times
suzi onCRACK: shut up
psykotik2k: emogirl
suzi onCRACK: i hate you!
psykotik2k: 😀
psykotik2k: i play videogames now
Auto response from suzi onCRACK:
suzi onCRACK:
i dislike people who have the name Justin.
psykotik2k: 😮

So back to the issue at hand. Emo. Which i still do not understand.

I think i will pick on Evanescence again because they seem to be big with kids these days. First, i will make horrible remarks about them and make unfounded judgments about their music even though i’ve never heard any of the stuff outside of their stupid ads for their stupid album and that stupid Daredevil trailer. Google, spider this for me please: EVANESCENCE SUCKS. Their music is horrible. They are so emo. So emo that their music makes me cry and feel wounded and sad and EMO. omgs.

Now with that being said, hopefully i will piss off all Evanescence fans that happen to stumble upon my site just like all the Nelly Furtardo fans that i’ve pissed off after they read my Nelly Retardo posts. I like to piss people off. It’s funny.

Here are some of Evanescence’s lyrics.

how can you see into my eyes like open doors
leading you down into my core
where i’ve become so numb without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold
until you find it there and lead it back home wake me up inside
wake me up inside
call my name and save me from the dark
bid my blood to run
before i come undone
save me from the nothing i’ve become

omgs. that makes me sad. =\ =( i cry. the pain! it hurts. save me!

whatever.

  3. Emo kids suck. For God’s sake people, CHEER UP. Quit blubbering all over yourselves and listen to some REAL music!

To think you came from punk culture… *shakes head*

  4. Listening to angst makes me happy. Eventually they will make CDs that just have people crying and sobbing, and I will laugh.

Tenacious D is the awesomest band in the world.

  5. I am almost positive Tenacious D isnt.

They do not compare to THE LOCUST! or BURY YOUR DEAD! or ESO-CHARIS!

    haha!

i’d buy that for a dollar!

  9. grrrr. emo and emo kids do not suck.

understanding "emo" is like understanding "punk." you just can’t. it can include any kind of punkesque music that has an emotional element to it. lyrics, dramatic changes in the flow of the music, disjointed and raw… usually whiney… and usually about a girl.

i love me some blubbering emo boy. ::drool::

  11. "oh gnos i’m so emotional i feel so wounded and abused and nobody loves me and i want to die kill me okay thanks bye"

He he he… I dont think Linkin Park can be considerd EMO seeing how Linkin Park fans are most likely to punch guys who cry.

I love Limp Bizkit’s(Any of their fans will claim they express emotion in their music *rolls eyes*, including depression and anger, but anyone with a brain can obviously look past it)Korn’s and Linkin Park’s canned emotion, which like works of magic, switch off when they are discussing royalties with their agents, switch back on when they are speaking to their adoring groupie Tiff and how much they feel for their music and how life is hard, switch back as they are screaming for their friend Pookie to record how the adoring groupie Tiff moans as he shags her, and switches back on when they perform their hit single and bang the microphone on their heads becasue "The Music moves me, y’know… It be like…like… it be like taking control of you’s bodys and you’s emotions, y’know dog?"

Nu Metal is terrible, and will likely be the cause of the end of Western Civilization…

  12. I dont want to tag any bands, or make label myself as some as a member of some Mainstream Sub Culture ("Modern Punks" , "Goths", "Headbangers" , "EMO") adolescent whiner who is to conserned with his nail polish then any thing of worth in the world (A bit to late for that)but here is some of the music I listen to:

The Cure (Mostly the tracks form Pornography , Disentigration, and Blood Flowers)
    Joy Division
    Bauhaus
    Placebo
    Siouxsie and the Banshees
    The Sex Pistols
Depeche Mode…. and other teen angst ridden albums that you all would hate anyways…

  15. clingy wimps who can’t sing… ummmn. maybe if you have some sort of poetic/deeply emotional flair to the wimpiness… or if you wear tight t-shirts with obsure punk band names on them and pumas.

    #15 | Comment by starzie — March 22, 2003 @ 11:59 pm

  16. Emo, Emocore, Emopunk, whatever you want to call it; is, from what I can tell, characterized as punk with prominent vocals and catchy tunes. From my Jane Goodall-like observations, half of the people that call themselves "emo" that wear the tight jeans, thick rimmed glasses, and "one size too small" zip-up sweaters don’t actually listen to emo music.

I wouldn’t say Linkin Park is emo, but I can see how you would think that. Emo is more than any music that is emotional, considering that almost all music is emotional. If you want to listen to the more main-stream emo, you could download music from bands like: Saves the Day, The Get Up Kids, Braid, Hey Mercedes, Taking Back Sunday, The Juliana Theory, Hot Rod Circuit, Jimmy Eat World, Reggie and the Full Effect, The New Amsterdams, Further Seems Forever, Finch, All-American Rejects, The Ataris, The Promise Ring, etc.

  28. im not one for much emo music at all but EMOCORE is a different story, download some OLD hopesfall – the end of an era. there new screamer sucks like what.

    #28 | Comment by Susan — March 23, 2003 @ 2:52 pm

  29. ok all you name dropping emo experts. getting so caught up in the label thing is freakishly annoying… the trick to "being emo" or "being punk" is being too jaded and cynical for labels. i mean, duh… don’t you all watch TRL?

  30. You know who else is emo? DMX.

  34. *agrees with suzi/susan*

hopesfall is beautiful…i saw them live, but i mean the old stuff is gold. actually at the moment i’m downloading one of their songs.

the only reason i say i’m emo is because im whiney. it really doesn’t have much to do with the music i listen to (even tho i do listen to music designated as "emo" or "screamo" or "emocore", etc)…hmmm…

    #34 | Comment by liz — March 23, 2003 @ 6:03 pm

  35. just noticed that suzi and liz both have z’s in their names

    #35 | Comment by Chris — March 23, 2003 @ 6:58 pm

  36. I was going to go see them (.hopesfall. )in Nashville then I listened to some of their newer stuff and I can’t bear to hear it. Besides, their shows bring all the mall metal kids and I think I might go crazy on someone if I was stuck in a small room with that many.

Seriously though, guys download some of the following stuff: The Locust, BURY YOUR DEAD!, Underoath, melt banana, Eso-Charis, Norma Jean, Terror, Throwdown, Embodyment, Le Shok, all of it is good.. and its NOT emo, emocore, emo anything..

and if anyone EVER suggests that you should check out 18V (eighteen visions) or Poison The Well KICK THEM.

    hardcore owns me.

  38. fuck emo…and fuck punk, and REALLY FUCK pop, and any other label that corporate america put on music to make it easily digestible to the MTV generation….listen to MUSIC…not pop, or metal, or punk, or rap or yanni or blues or whatever….listen to music. Find a band or two that actually writes their own tunes, and does their own thing, and does it well, and listen to them because of that, not because of the label they have been given.
