Umm… okay…
Well, I know this is off subject, but I have been desperately awaiting to "Kill Bill volume 1" (Seeing how I am a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino’s work and 70’s Kung-Fu flicks, I was already sold)for a good six months or so, but my luck has made it that there are no showings here in the Dominican Republic (Not that I was expecting any diffrent)
Suprisingly enough for a would be campy genre flick, it has gotten great reviews from the likes of Ebert and Roepert (Two thumbs way up) and has recieved a 81% in the tomatometer, but MaryAnn from the FlickFiloshipher.com trashed it, so its up for grabs I suppose.
Well anyways, I was wondering if anyone’s seen it yet and if so could they tell me their thoughts on it.
I bet its alreadyon bootleg, but I could be wrong…

guizhang – i read this while perusing LJ, and ripped it off someone’s page since it just might mean something to you. i didn’t write it, but here it is:
"i saw kill bill last night and it was one of the best made films i have seen in a while. true, the plot may not be very strong, but that’s not the point of the film. the point is to see as many people as possible get chopped up and killed within an hour and a half. tarantino (who, btw, must be a sick motherfucker for loving to always include so much blood in his movies) has incredible style when it comes to filming. you can clearly see how he was influenced by the old samurai films of akira kurosawa and the kungfu films of sonny chiba. it’s really worth seeing if you don’t mind waiting 4 months for the next part (awesome cliffhanger at the end). it’s really not as gory as people make it seem. while blood spurts out of various parts of human bodies, it looks incredibly unrealistic."
hope that helped.

Thanks Crystal (For furthur reference, may I call you Cris?)
This is quite favorable (I imagine theres a bit of eyerolling at it, but tyou have to be a fan of the genre to fully understand these kinds of things)and it is interesting how the writer compares Tarantino with Kurasawa ("Yojimbo" and "The Seven Samurai" are two of my favorite movies, as is the remake of "Yojimbo" "Fistfull of Dollars" by the great Sergio Leone.
Well anyways, if anyone has seen it, feel free to comment on it.

you think a girl is a girl until you talk to them and find out that they’re a guy, or a trans

Who are you people and how do you get posting rights? And Crystal’s right; Kill Bill ruled. Nice little combination of blaxploitation cinema and old-school Sonny Chiba (note the cameo) style samurai movies, and Volume 2 will probably throw some Western in for good measure. I mean, if you want to compare the blood spray of a samurai-film to anything, the best example on earth would be the Hamlet-esque bloodbath that closed out The Wild Bunch.
I might see Kill Bill again tomorrow and write something up on it over at my site.
I host this website. Therefore, I’m able to post. Hell, I could post under Justin’s name if I wanted. The point of the post was because no one had posted in a while and I hoped my crap would inspire a further post that was better than my own.
And you are correct, Kill Bill owned.

Kill Bill was definitely worth it.
The Good. Uma Thurman. Fights were awesome, and really well shot for the most part. Story was overall entertaining, and Tarantino has a knack for timing in his edits. Works out nicely. You’ll be entertained.
The Bad. Rough cliffhanger at the end.
The Ugly. Scene transitions and cuts were a bit poor at times. Overall, poor cinematography and lighting.
