Kinda hard to have a conversation with oneself, Eamon. I'm not complaining about the lack of posts here. I certainly can find entertainment elsewhere. I just find it regrettable that there isn't more traffic willing to engage in cogent or even just interesting conversation.

The thing about communities is that they need people. This isn't a community at this point. It's a rather small sausage fest + AB.

You could compare it to a phenomenon that I would guess that many folks witnessed while in high school. (I certainly did.) When someone tried to throw a party and nobody stuck around long enough to do much save for a couple of friends, we officially renamed it a "social gathering", and did something completely different (sometimes more interesting) than what was planned. This is starting to feel like that, except I'm not sure any of us are close enough friends to shift gears into the "social gathering" mode. Our knit isn't tight enough, as it were.

I have to admit that I feel like I'm living in a glass house here, too. I might be tempted to open up a bit more if I didn't feel like any schmuck surfin' for pr0n on teh intarweb could read posts without even bothering to register. I spoke to AB about this before and I realize that it is by design, to avoid a million registered users that do nothing, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

Are you wrong in doing so? No.

Do I fault you for it? Yes. There's such a thing as tact.

If you run ppl off, great, I like to interact with new people, and the people that you ran off, I can interact with them outside of Fubar's forums. Just like I only interact with you here.

I don't propose bullying people into posting more. More posts of dull/forced conversation isn't the solution. Conversations should spring forth naturally. That being said we should brainstorm on ways to inspire that.


On a side note:
And yes, I do side with you because it makes sense to do so. An interesting fact about me, I ALWAYS side with something ONLY when it makes sense to do so. It's kind of stupid to side with something I don't agree with, isn't it?

In answer to the TJNR question.

Justin was going to give the site up to Caustyc when he left. I told him 'Fuck that' and I think I convinced him to sell it for $500 or something. Caustyc cried like a bitch but caved in.

Shortly thereafter he charged Father Ted some undisclosed sum for 50% ownership of the site.

A few months back, Ted paid him another installment for the other 50%. Caustyc is gone and buried... well except for Clarissa, who still pines for him, cuz she has horrible taste in men.

Ted asked me back, and Ted and I always had a very solid friendship over on TJNR and out of respect for him, I returned. I stick mostly to a protected forum "Grumpy Auld Bastards" because Zot, Wombat, Ted and a few new faces are there, but I'm isolated from the masses, which is how I prefer it.

Actually Father Ted just made another site, which he's attempting to divorce the 'masses' from 'auld bastards' more formally. I'm not quite sure why.

I'm curious why Cockstick banned you. But I can guess cuz he thought you were going to be like the rest of the regulars who stuck around to wreak havoc (like Heineken).

The way I see it they invaded an existing site and made it their home. They then made it intolerable for regular folk, folk who were already there, to stay and enjoy things. So fuck them if I fucked up the places they like to fuck up for them. fuck fuck fuck

Well, actually, I was going to pull a Heineken, but I got banned instead.

I opposed Cockstyc's Stalin-like seizure of power from the beginning. And as a sign of defiance, I wrote "Fuck Cockstyc" in my signature. He deleted it. So, I put it back, this time in the largest possible size.

He deleted it again.

I then proceeded to write it repeatedly on separate lines of my signature in the largest possible font. And random colors. He then banned me. For a year. What a prick.

I got unbanned April 2006. I have not gone back.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, I agree with Eamon on the fact that TJNR starting being populated with douchebags and fat chicks who get treated like they are queens to the douchebags because they're the closest to a girl the said douchebags will get. Fuck it, the last thing I want to do is to talk about TJNR. To make a long story short, if those douchebags don't come here because of Eamon, then thank you Eamon.
