Just make something up

This is the internet, people will get what you're referencing.

I mean, we all got along just fine before the IRL people labeled it.

Maybe he only fluked it the first couple of times, and now the old folks are so spooked that whenever he comes near them they just die of shock!

Yeah, that thought occured to me as well, but...
Doctors say most of the people who get a visit from the sweet-faced, gray-and-white cat are so ill they probably don't know he's there, so patients aren't aware he's a harbinger of death.
lolz "harbinger of death"

that's almost as good as the "furry grim reaper" line.

and then there is this...
Most families are grateful for the advanced warning, although one wanted Oscar out of the room while a family member died. When Oscar is put outside, he paces and meows his displeasure.
wtf

spooooooky.

it's almost as though he knows there is a tasty human soul to devour, and he's pissed that he's missing out on consuming it...

Well, it's not like that soul is doing the old person any good, so...

Have you met google SMS?

It actually works if you send to YAHOO (92466) too.

That's fucking cool. If you are out and stuck for directions (or finding a business) just txt away.

There's other uses too I'm sure.

Love Google SMS. Last time I used it, I was looking for a book that was not easy to find after looking in 3 stores. Got the listing for every bookstore in the next town over and called until we found one that had it, and asked them to reserve it at the desk for us. Never had to even stop the car.

As for an interesting news item, the joy of riding a motorcycle has taken on new meaning.

"Being able to travel faster than the speed of light would lead to a wide variety of bizarre consequences.

For instance, an astronaut moving faster than it would theoretically arrive at a destination before leaving."

Awesome.

I don't know how you could tell the difference between a photon travelling 3 feet at the speed of light, and the speed of light + whatever. Seems to me that length of time would be infinitesimal and would appear "instantaneous" in either case. :?

It's times like these I wish I'd taken a course or two in particle physics or quantum mechanics.

That article was not written by scientists, but with someone with little understanding of the subject matter and a great need to meet a quota I suspect.

Quantum tunnelling is something that I also have very little understanding of save that it has to do with quantum mechanics, something I spell whiskey tango foxtrot.

I suppose this is a personal prejudice, but I have trouble with suspension of disbelief where laymen explaining QM is concerned.

Like the double slit experiment.

Photons are in two places at once except when you look at them? Even if the observation would occur after the event itself?

I dunno guys, I think something was lost in translation.

Tesseracts, though. Those are awesome.

Every so often I GIS them to try and find good pictures (which are sadly lacking), but most of the time I see truncated or cantitruncated or omnibiruntitruncated tesseracts and I'm like

Why would you want to cut up a tesseract? They're so cool! They shouldn't be mutilated.

I tried to get one but I couldn't even find one on ebay. I bet they'd be hard to carry around, they'd be really oddly heavy and hard to get a good grip on and if you turned them the wrong way you might cut your arm off.

D:

On second thought, you probably shouldn't be able to own one unless you had a permit and took a class and stuff.

Too dangerous.

And I bet you could hide stuff in there too. Like, illegal stuff and then the dogs couldn't sniff it out because they can't smell past a 180 degree right angle or however big they are and if they tried to go in they'd get lost and scared.

Probably only the government has tesseracts.

Maybe Iraq had tesseracts and that's actually why we went to war with them. I don't know if it's instead of WMDs or that the WMDs were in the tesseracts.

There was probably an arms race in polytropes.

Making progressively more n+1 dimensional analogues until Russia had the capacity to make the enneract but due to potential collateral damage settled for the octaract but still the US had only gotten to the hexaract.

Actually Russia would probably have used simplexes, not hypercubes.

EDIT: See,

Pentachoron

Much simpler.

Yeah, objects that defy the laws of our universe seem to have a lot of red tape.

The fact that I knew exactly what you're talking about makes me a huge science geek.

I laughed though.

I have so many pictures of impossible shapes.

But I call them magical instead because I don't like math.
