Besides which, I don't think the RIAA has much jurisdiction in Belgium... :P

The RIAA tends to overlook 2 simple facts:

1. A lot of stuff out there isn't even WORTH paying for.
2. Piracy is sexy.

To take the flip side of the your joke...

Working for a software company, piracy isn't sexy. It means my and my coworkers jobs. If our software became piratable...I'd be out on the street and unemployed.

I still, however, contend that artists aren't losing DOLLARS...they are losing sales that wouldn't have bought their stuff in the first place.

There are plenty of people stealing to steal though. Cheap bastards. But those people are still cheap bastards and wouldn't have bought regardless.

What is really hurting the RIAA are several things: 1) pricing, 2) refusal to embrace the digital media, 3) and the payola scams that they've cut their own legs out. Jennifer Lopez is on the top of the charts despite the fact that she sucks! Yes, because rather than letting the masses find talent and embracing them, they bribed radio stations to play garbage to sell more records.

Johnny Cash - American(s) I, II, and V

I don't enjoy them quite as much as III and IV.
