kinda right...looking for something more west. Platteville's "M" got their inspiration from this "M". the "M" pictured was constructed in 1908, not 1936.

the M located on Mount Zion sits 6900 feet above sea level. it can be clearly seen from almost every location in the town of Golden, CO. the Coors brewery in Golden is the largest in the world.
the M refers to the School of Mines located in Golden.

Now that this place has been finished, at least to a point, it has really become Mecca. Silly little black stone ain't got nothing on this place.

Well, that made it easy...
The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's annex at Washington Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, Virginia...home to the Enola Gay, among other famous airplanes (shuttle Enterprise, an SR-71, a Concorde) too big for the museum on the Mall in D.C.
Interestingly, Tibbets' grandson Lt. Col. Paul Tibbets, IV, as of 2005 was a pilot in the USAF, flying a B-2 Spirit for the 509th Bomb Wing, the same unit that his grandfather commanded.

White Sands Missile Range is home to an alternate landing site for the Space Shuttle, which has been used on one occasion.
