You guys must be joking.
This movie sucked.
It looked like they made it up as they went along and then tried to make it look professional by cutting in some stupid effects in post.
All the dialogue sounded like a high school creative writing student wrote it.
All around bad. Lionsgate strikes again.

Worse ending to a MTV-ish romp that doesn't really go anywhere... At times witty but otherwise quite blah

I liked the premise....but hated the film
That seems to be the theme these days.

Smokin Aces killed this for hyper action.
Way better movie than Crank.

I'm not a big action movie fan. Much like I'm not a big horror movie fan. So my question is this: Does the story have a plot? And how see through is it?

It does have a plot though it tries to be a little smarter than it actually is.
But yes there is a story line. The premise is as they put in all the ads but aside from that they worked with what they had and there is growth and a visible arch.

All I really get out of the ads is: here's a whole list of non-actors who are cool for being in this movie...
Oh, and most of them are trying to kill some douchebag.

Smoking Aces I watched yesterday.
It's awfully deriative fluff over the top action like in Domino with nary a story.
The characters actually worth investing in are not on long and all the people who are quite fucking obnoxious stay around for the end.
I mean seriously who gives a flying ratfuck about a coked up Jeremy Piven and why we should want him to live.
But trying to be objective about it.
Joe Carnahan's short film on bmwfilms.com was a better effort than this was.

How was that objective?
Derivative is code for I don't like it but it's well made and can't pick out something structurally wrong hence I say it's a ripoff.
Everything is derivative. Even you.

And your point being?
Shut the fuck up. Everybody hates you.
If you have a point, then state it except crawling up every asshole you can just to be an annoying little sour bitch.
I comment on the films and the movies.
Smoking Aces fucking sucked. Just because there was more blood than brains and everyone was badly developed.
The plot was tacked on in the last 15 minutes just as a "look at me, I'm such a clever film because I gave a last minute plot twist" piece of BULLSHIT.
"Ticker" in the BMW shorts had the same plot device. Except then it was a heart instead.
I loved Narc. I thought Joe Carnahan brilliant. But at least I can be honest enough to say that Aces was hyperviolent over-the-top "let's ripoff Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and stick on a piece of shit twist ending about two characters in the film who nobody in their right mind short gives a ratfuck about.
Oh yeah, this is code for Fuck you, Gayman Assballsface

Narc was a great movie. Set in Meeeeeechigan btw.
And, What is most interesting to me about this retort for Mao is that he's arguing what I said I was most concerned about to Eamon Angleface. The question being if there is any discernible plot in Smoking Aces.
Sadly, I question Eamon's judgment most here. He seems to like movies that people blow shit up or drive in fast cars. And that's about the extent of it.
