The Incredible Hulk

This is the current casting list for The Incredible Hulk (From IMDB.com)
Cast(Credited cast)
Edward Norton ... Bruce Banner
Tim Roth ... Emil Blonsky
Liv Tyler ... Betty Ross (attached)
Now. Am I missing something here because I distinctly remembered the Ang Lee take on Hulk not going down well with audiences and the box office, and now they come out with a new cast that basically (Jennifer Conelly aside) could take on the calibre of the cast of the first film, if not more so.
And the director... (*drumroll*) ...is..
Ta-dah! Louis LeTerrier!
Who?
Well, he's the guy who did Danny the Dog AKA Unleashed which was, to be honest, a popcorn kungfu "Jet Li kicks everyody's ass" kind of film which tried to inject more pathos into Jet's character.
It wasn't TOO bad. But it wasn't gold on film either.
Which really kind of makes me wonder what exactly is going on here? How did they manage to get Norton?
That's classy. Anyone who can wear a can of tin on his head and out-act every single other fuckhead in Kingdom of Heaven has my total respect.
That's right. Leper king Baldwin IV = Edward Norton.
Norton as Hulk. If he hits the gym like he did in History X, then I am SOLD, motherfucker!
Still, it makes for interesting news. But something about this project just seems so ....strange.
Out.

Why does Norton need to hit the gym? Banner isn't supposed to be some fitness nut, he's a scientist. Having worked around these types for the past several years, trust me when I tell you that rock-hard abs aren't at the top of their list of priorities.
Also, I hear this movie will be featuring the grey version of the Hulk. Though not being a reader of this comic, I don't really know what that implies.
Oh, and isn't Leterrier better known for his Transporter movies than for Unleashed?

AB is correct.
He's also EXTREMELY talented. Very in demand.
This movie is such a great idea I'm giddy. Make a movie and it sucks balls so instead of blaming the content...try it again!!
Finally someone makes a decision that makes sense!

Norton is supposed to be rather picky with his roles, so it must have been a damn good script. I'm a little confused about them using the grey hulk, but perhaps they are trying to get as far away as possible from the Ang Lee disasater.
PS: The Joker scares me

So who's supposed to be the villian. Or are they going to skip that?

Abomination is the villain in this one.
All Wikipedia says about the color is that it's a different shade of green for 'stylistic' reasons...whatever that means.

from my comic days, Grey Hulk was more... savage / mindless. Also meant more strong.
Green Hulk was closer to 'human' with memories and limited rational thought.

Maybe this hints that the storyline will be from Loeb's series of origin-retelling books (
Hulk: Gray).

I don't know anything about the Hulk other than that Bill Bixby was scarier in his human form.
Oh and the first attempt at this was so dull I too am surprised at Norton's involvement......but then, he did do the illusionist Zzzzzz.

I didn't find the original to be dull at all. Quite frankly, I was totally happy to get Ang Lee to do an origin story for a superhero, because it meant that time would actually get spent on characterization, as opposed to, "All right, let's expose him to the gamma-rays in the first twenty minutes, and then he can be Hulk from then on. We'll blow some shit up." I mean, on a boredom-scale, it's nowhere near My Dinner With Andre.
Was it retarded to make Nick Nolte into the Absorbing Man? Oh, absolutely. But I still think it was ultimately a good idea to run the subplot of grown children who have abandonment issues, because I fucking hate it when movies don't have subplots. Shit, I'm lucky to get movies with any plot at all these days.
Unfortunately, the next film will probably go, "Shit, look at all the money 300 made. We don't need to do any of that intellectual stuff with characters and dialogue... Let's dumb it down to the point where high school football players would understand it. Yes, the linemen, too, so take out all those words that are more than six letters long."
I'm actually so furious about this whole thing that I won't even get into the gray/green thing, and why they'll fuck that one up, too.

But was it as funny as My Breakfast with Blassie?

Empire Magazine spoke to former Marvel exec Avi Arad Monday, April 23rd and asked him to confirm the rumors that he had a part in spreading that the Hulk in the new film will be grey.
Says Arad: '"It was a joke! here's what it was. There were 30 people around a table and they said 'is there going to be a grey Hulk?' And I was thinking about it and I said, 'who knows?'"
Actually, you said something about the Hulk not being the same color he was previously. Meaning…not green…so were you just talking out of your ass, is he grey after all and you were reprimanded…or is the Hulk a new color (which would lead to the flick immediately bombing).
Says Arad: '"It's a different shade of green."' WEAK! You B.S artist, you. Sigh

... I guess you get the prize for making me feel guilty for actually liking 300 a lot.
I lose.
