I have a combo grill but only use the gas. It's much easier and tastes great unless you don't know what you're doing.

Well, the flavor's actually much better with wood-based products (i.e. wood and/or charcoal) as long as you don't start it with lighter fluid. A couple sheets of newspaper will do the same thing and it's reusing a product that might have been landfilled, instead of tapping into fossil fuels yet again.
