I effin loved this movie, although it was mostly because of Eva Green-- goodness..goodness..I was doing her in my mind the ENTIRE time. She caught my eye the second she was on the screen. Something's so real about her..kind of something "off" I guess you could say fom the traditional beauty. She was TONS better than the first waste of space woman in that movie- I was not having her- stuck up and ordinary.

Eva's just unique ..and well...I'm in love.

This is, I believe, the first Bond movie to confirm to me that the guy is a fucking psychopath, what with the constant killing and fucking and the charm and no remorse.

If I met any of the other Bonds in a dark alley, I wouldn't be particularly nervous, but this guy is fucking scary.

He will totally kill you.

And smile about it while he fucks your wife.

I also had a similar feeling while watching 007 do that thing he do so well.

It went a little something like this:

James Bond = Patrick Bateman ?

They both have impeccable taste, are very charming, and can kill you without elevating their pulse rate above 60 bpm.

Sounds like they might be steering 007 back to the original spirit of the novels, and not a comedy/action crock.

Not sure how widely known it is, but "Casino Royale" was the title of the first Bond novel.

As well as the title of a 007 spoof made in 1967, starring Peter Sellers and David Niven. Also featuring Ursula Andress as Vesper Lynd, Orson Wells as Le Chiffre, and Woody Allen as Jimmy Bond.

It's loosely based on the first book. Very loosely but yes that was the intent. Originally they just said they were going to do the first book and then it took off from there. Paul Haggis was an after thought and didn't contribute much. The two guys who produce Smallville and worked on Spidey 2 really wanted a crack at it. I think they'd have done an even better job.

Major diff between Bond and Bateman: Patrick is totally delusional and in reality just a spoiled loser. Bond is a genuine killer. American Psycho did a piss poor job of adapting the books socially critical message and explaining the character. Basically Patrick Bateman sits in an office all day and imagines he's James Bond.
