Yeah tell me about it.
I only
just upgraded to an x800XT. I just wanted something to give me a nice little boost whilst I waited for the DX10 cards to become commonplace and the core duos to cheapen a bit. I managed to get it mega cheap though (canadian import £1 = $2.5 CAD roughly).
I was looking forward to Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Rainbow Six: Vegas, but Ubsoft can take a hike now. Asides from that, I've heard SC:DA was a shoddy port, so even if you do own a pixel shader 3.0 card, it still has a shitload of bugs in it.
I do think it's ridiculous, on the eve of DX10 card releases they decide to completely cut out around 30% of a possible market....at christmas time too, when people's itchy retail therapy fingers are flexing.
The reason (apparantly), is that SC:DA was developed primarily for the 360, which is completely ps3.0, and the lazy porters just couldn't be arsed actually adding in ps2.0 paths for the game.
I doubt Ubisoft will make another mainstream, big budget title that uses ps2.0, so until I upgrade I won't be buying anymore Ubisoft, and even then, those torrent links look mighty tasty for a disgruntled customer forced to upgrade (in theory).

I wish
Asides from the fact that the games are a complete rip off (360 game £50, pc game £20), It doesn't cater for the disabled at all. I have Essential Tremor, which is a neurological condition that causes a fine rhythmic shake in my fingers and neck. It's progressive and gets worse in times of stress or nervousness, but ultimately, I could never be a surgeon, I can also never have fun using an analog stick. I can barely keep my thum still when using analog sticks, it just ruins the enjoyment of any console game.
