Obvious, the rest of the nation is finally catching up to me.

You can only hang so many questions on the story before it starts to sag (see: X-Files, Pretender, probably Alias).

OMG WHAT'S THOSE SIMBOLZ ON THE TIMER MEAN OMG EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS EACH OTHER OMG DID YOU SEE THOSE NUMBERS POPPED UP AGAIN TO DESCRIBE SOMETHING THAT WAS FORMERLY MUNDANE BUT NOT IT HAS A SPECIAL SIGNIFICANCE!!!!!1!11!!1!!11!!4!!!!8!15!!16!!!!23!42!!

I gurantee you I know all the character's birth dates, phone, social security and bank account numbers.

Anyways, if J.J. wants to save the show, he knows what he's got to do.

I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more MONSTER.

Less of this others shit, and more monster, hatches and polar bears.

Better yet, penguins.

I can't wait until the celebrity guest stars start rolling in.

I was thinking about this when I watched it last night and they did that whole Neo Matrix Oracle bit. It made me unhappy.

With all the pilots made every year can anyone really expect one of the shows thats makes it to air to be genuinely crafted by a collection of geniuses with all kinds of mind blowing hints? It seems a little naive to expect the outcome to be a fraction as good as the build up. I guess it's that old Nietzsche lesson about the journey being better than the destination.

Personally I think the best thing would be for the show to be canceled so the whole thing can be left open and never answered. The stuff people will make up will undoubtedly be far better than what's actually being brainstormed by the writers.

It's not JJ Abrams, it's primarily Damon Lindelof. I could site interview after interview where he has been questioned about too many mysteries and he always defends it saying: (paraphrasing, but what he meant) "I don't think the fans want the answers to the mysteries, I think that they just want to know that there WILL BE answers to the mysteries. They want to know that we have a master plan"

If you read most recent PR on Lost, you'll see constant mention that they plan to end the series at 5 seasons, possibly six. This is their lame attempt to say 'See? We have an endgame.'

I really hate that fucker.

The thing is with Lost, is that the random factor coupled with the mystery seems to be what people keep tuning in for, and as soon as they start overdoing the first and explaining the second the show is doomed.

If that were true I would feel much better about the show.

I know it's a business, and that it's unrealistic to expect the people in charge of these things to give it a definite end cap when it could potentially still be making money, but keeping the plot strung along until no one cares anymore and then wrapping it up with a sloppy bow is terrible story telling.

I actually would like it if the people of BSG knew it was going to die in a couple of seasons (which I'm sure it will, if not sooner). I think we'd get less episodes like that last one.

But as pertains to Lost, I think Eamon's right about how the show should die. I know about six people who would work tirelessly and without pay constructing very good and plausible explanations.

Actually, I hope they do that now.

Now let's start speculating about the date of that final smash cut.

My money's on April 16, 2008, although they could conceivably wait a week.

EDIT: Actually, no they couldn't wait a week, not and still have the show start at 10PM.

The problem with Eamon's suggestion is precisely what *I* hate about Lost.

The fan speculations and wild theories annoy the shit out of me. There's no point in it, because the writers can write whatever they want: deus ex machina!

Where, in the case of Lost, it soured me, was when they started incorporating the fans' retardedness into the story telling.

Proof?

The numbers were merely supposed to be a coincidence, nothing more. Until they saw the rabid fan reaction and decided to make it bigger and more mysterious...

Truth. The creators have gone on record several times that most of those scenes with the "numbers" (among other things) were simply easter eggs. Just something for die-hard fans to notice and go "COOL".

Despite all the talk of the shows downfall and poor ratings, this weeks episode was the best I've seen this entire season.

While trying to convince other people of this opinion, I stumbled upon several "5 out of 5" reviews, including IGN.com who gave it a 9.4 out of 10

Flawless victory.

Unless, as Lost loves to do...none of that was real. What if it was a dream?

The part where the fat guy runs people over and the hick shoots the guy in the chest was a cool scene. Basically I think this show would be a whole hell of a lot better if they hadn't tried to be so brilliant. Eventually they'll have to face the music and even with all the time in the world brilliance is a motherfucker to fake. I mean polar bears, guys who are invisible, a guy who can walk around after being paralyzed twice, a machine that makes planes fall from the sky, submarines, psychics... there's just WAY too much to explain away now. Jumping past the explanation to cryptic fallout is irritating and beyond amateur. I'd honestly be happier if the whole thing erupted into a violent bloody orgy than to have the mountains of "closure" needed be alluded to and largely ignored. Then again a lot of people liked Children of Men and that piece of shit never explained itself.

Apparently Lost has a definite end point set, in 2010.
