So did anybody watch the full trailer on NBC like five minutes ago?
It’ll probably be online soon enough. I’ll have the link up when i find one. But yeah, judging by what i just saw, i have no doubt in my mind that Spider-Man 2 will break box office records again. No doubt.
update:
Here it is:
I saw the first one a while back, it was only ruined by kirsten dunst’s acting.

The first preview was ruined badly by how shitty the car looked going through the window and "over" them. It was clearly CG. Granted, doing that any other way would be instant death for anybody involved…but CG generally pisses me the fuck off. Still, it should be an awesome movie. John Edward is the "biggest deush in the world".

Octavius goes apeshit after a freak accident in his laboratory? Isn’t that how the Green Goblin got started in the first one? These movies look so goddamned the same.

One laboratory accident and therefore all these movies look the same? You need some perspective.

In your face hesey, you can’t have first second and now 15th post.
Either way the movie looks awesome, there incorperating alot of the comics storylines into the movie. And it even looks like they found a way to wet kirsten dunst down again. God bless america.
oh and Heathen almost all of the spiderman villains started out in freak accidents in laboratories. almost every freaking one.

Okay, the teaser trailer that came out a few months back really didn’t do anything for me, because I was just like, "Okay, so we’ve got Doc Ock, and Peter Parker and Mary-Jane are going through some sort of … thing." Anyway, the comic-book geek in me really digs this trailer just on the basis of the whole "Spider-Man, No More!" thing, which is from the classic Spider-Man #50. In fact, the "Spider-Man No More!" shot in the trailer is issue-accurate right down to the costume in the garbage can and Peter Parker walking away from it in the rain.
We’ll just ignore the fact that Mary-Jane wasn’t really a factor in Parker’s life at the time, because he was into Gwen Stacy back then, and the closest we’ve gotten to Gwen Stacy is when Mary-Jane gets tossed off the bridge by the Green Goblin toward the end of the first movie.
But I digress. Yes, I know I’m a geek; I already addressed that. I think tomorrow I’ll have to write up a commentary for the first movie, for lack of anything less geeky to do.

Umgawa, you also forgot to mention the fact that Peter Parker didn’t shoot webbing from his hands but had web shooters that he invented. I guess I’m a geek too but more of a DC geek.

From the trailer, it looks as though 2 will be better than 1, and I thought 1 was done very well. I like how after Peter apparently quits the Spidey gig the crime rate goes up 75%.
I’ll be there opening day, but I was planning on that even before I saw this trailer.

That’s great news about X-Files 2, if it’s true. The problem is that imdb.com has no information about a sequel, and videoeta.com doesn’t cite their sources. I’ll believe it when I hear it from a reputable source. I’m hoping it’s true, though.

Okay, "the same" is a poor choice of words. It’s just that the plot seems familiar. Of course, that’s going by a few moments in the trailer. Ahh, fuck it. I’m still going to shell out $15 to see it (that’s in Canadian funds, which is, what, a buck fifty US?). I’m not going to split hairs over the sequel. I’ve got a Bowie concert to go to, anyways.

Oh man. This movie is gonna be great! I just wish they’d get on with it and do a movie about Venom and Maximum Carnage. Will we finally see them in Spiderman 3? I hope so. Other than that I’m looking forward to Batman Begins next year. Now that will be awesome!
#39 | Comment by KB — April 9, 2004 @ 6:19 pm
I bet they’ll have the Lizard in Spider-Man 3. After all, Curt Connors makes an appearance in the next movie (he can be seen in the trailer), and in the comics he becomes the Lizard. If they use Venom, they’ll CGI him, which means they’ll be walking a fine line between greatness and dogshit. I guess that applies to the Lizard, though.
#40 | Comment by Heathen — April 9, 2004 @ 6:37 pm
Weren’t they hoping/planning on doing about six Spider-Man films all together? Or something around that number? If so, I hope they end it with the Venom and Carnage villains and not have them pop up in part 3 or 4 because, that’d be lame. They should end the series with a bang! Boo-Ya!

The last Matrix sucked. They built you up in the second one with crazy philosophical questions and then completely ignored them in the third. They end it, leaving you with nothing. No resolutions. And they clame that this is the last one? Foolish!!
And although I have all the comics that go from the Doomsday Saga through the Reign of the Supermen, I have never seen the movie "Steel". In fact I tried to ignore the fact that the film had anything to do with the comic.
Batman is the best "superhero" ever, because he is not "Super" in any sense (other than super-smart and super-rich). That is quite an accomplishment, seeing that he is considered in the same league as the immortal Superman. Batman Begins better be fucking awesome. I heard The Scarecrow was going to be in it. That is the villian that they need.
#50 | Comment by KB — April 10, 2004 @ 2:47 am
Rent The Matrix and The Dark Crystal as Thesis and Anti-Thesis.
The Puppet movie by far better represents re-uniting the "Dualities" than the looooong winded angry fruit salad of the Matrix Reloaded-Revolutions.
Really. Think about it.

#53 | Comment by scentless — April 10, 2004 @ 4:19 am
First thing I am a big DC fan. But Batman as being the best "superhero" is really a joke. (I am a Batman fan too) How many people who lose their parents to a brutal murder would decide to become a costumed man stopping crime. Wouldn’t it be a lot easier since he is a billionaire to just buy the whole city and reform it all to his liking? I mean Lex Luthor is a evil billionaire that pretty much owns all of Metropolis (well at least he used to) and turned it into a good place to live except for his evil plans. So wouldn’t you think that if Bruce Wayne was such a genious he could do the same thing with his money instead of running around beating up criminals. Yes I know its only a comic book but that is why people tend to like Marvel Comics much better then DC because of the fact that they all have more "realistic" powers (most people tend to like to believe that maybe they could have a science accident and develope powers) instead of "god" like powers aka Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonderwoman etc.
#54 | Comment by Howsurazz — April 10, 2004 @ 4:22 am
Marvel > DC
Not only are there plausible reasons for superpowers for most characters, but they’re placed in real life cities. People are able to relate to them more. They’re more human.
But Batman is still my favorite superhero ever. He and Green Lantern are two of the coolest characters ever.

personally i loved the first spider-man film. After beng disapointed so many times by super hero films (the punisher, steel, superman 3 and 4, batman forever and worst of the worst batman and robin) i was ready to give up on superhero films altogether. Then there was spider-man, which i think kicked ass. It pissed me off that Peter didn’t use his spider powers to impress babes and the such, but i still loved the film. i hardly think it was "lame" by any standard. overblown, unrealistic, uninteresting? perhaps if you are not into the genre, i could understand that. but "lame"…. hardly a very scathing comment, and hardly justifiable. Then again it a matter of personal taste. Some people like super hero films. Some people like dumbass chick flicks, like titanic. Some people love the zany teen comedies with all the nudity without reason. If you don’t like the genre, don’t bitch when you don’t like the film. It would be like me going to see some fucking Julia Roberts movie or Bridget Jones diary . Of course i won’t like it, i hate romantic comedies with a moral or personal growth by a character. I hate that crap, so i avoid those movies. If you don’t like the water, stay out of teh swimming pool.
Snoogins.

Just a note of clarification.
Steel was a movie staring Shaq as a black man (obviously) in a suit of armor who helps people. It was loosely based on Steel, who was one of the "Supermen" who appears after the real Superman was killed by doomsday in the comic books. That movie was awefull. almost as bad as Shazaam, another Shaq bomb forced upon the world.
The Original Punisher movie starred Dolf Lundregen as the punisher, and personally i thought it was pretty dumb, though amusing in its crappy-ness at times. The new punisher looks better.

#60 | Comment by J-Mah — April 10, 2004 @ 2:45 pm
I think DC is better than Marvel, but thats just me. Spiderman, and The Punisher are good though. Superman is the best superhero ever. Green Lantern rocks too. And aren’t they going to make a Green Lantern movie?
Oh, and for ‘god’like powers, Superman’s powers have to do with a difference in suns from his home planet and earth, so it has to do with absorption of energy rays or something like that, so its kind of sciencey. Green Lantern’s powers come from an alien ring, so thats kind of technological. And as far as Wonder Woman goes, hell if i know where Wonder Woman gets her powers from, but it probably involves her cleavage.
#61 | Comment by The DeAdLy SuPeRMaN — April 10, 2004 @ 5:46 pm
You gotta explain all of Superman’s powers. Some make sense but being able to fly? Also what about his ability to burn things with his eyes or his invulnerability? His suit doesn’t get destroyed but he can still put it on. Green Lantern alien powerful ring that can do whatever he imagines but is vulnerable to yellow yeah that makes sense. I know I collect both of them and can’t wait for Jim Lee to start doing Superman but some things just don’t make sense.
#62 | Comment by Howsurazz — April 10, 2004 @ 7:00 pm
did you guys catch x-men? no one has mentioned those movies. the story rocks, the acting is solid (except for storm) and i don’t have to stare at two assholes with masks on their faces, jiggle their heads up and down to indicat that they are speaking in a scene.
sorry to say but if you’re down with spidey than you’re just completely Lame (just like the original tinkle-drinker himself….Just another Joe).
….Superman, and all things superman are pretty kick ass too. it’s tough to beat superman….but x-men has been put together masterfully so far…nut i’mjust a dope.
#63 | Comment by Dope — April 10, 2004 @ 7:15 pm
Superman’s flying ability has to do with the gravitional difference between Krypton and Earth. The burning things with his eyes is because he can emit energy from them, energy he absorbs from the sun. The invulnerability probably works the same way, having to do with energy absorption. Of course, these are only comic book, so you we’re/I’m probably overanalyzing it, because the creators probably just thought "I’ll add this power, because it will be kickass"
#64 | Comment by The DeAdly SuPeRMaN — April 10, 2004 @ 9:25 pm
Yeah, Green Lantern is pretty cool and all, but I think that Guy Gardner was the best GL. Not because he was the best at the job, but because he was a cocky bastard who would shoot off his mouth at anyone (especially Superman). Even the fact that GG got his ass kicked sometimes doesnt bother me.
But Batman is the best comic book character anyways, so all the rest of this talk is worthless. Well, actually Wolverine is pretty close to Batman. I’d like to see that fight….
#65 | Comment by KB — April 10, 2004 @ 10:36 pm
yeah i realize now i never mentioned some awesome super hero movies like the x-men ones. Both were indeed awesome. but do you know whats greater? Daredevil. All you have to do is remove any and all scenes that donn’t involve Electra, and the Electra jiggle factor, and you got one solid movie…. thats about 16 minutes long.
Jennifer Garner is wicked hot. the electra spin off movie will probally be better than Daredevil.
Oh yeah, apparently they are in pre production for a Ghost Rider movie, but its starin Nic Cage (boo-urns to that). And apparently he want to tame it down for kids. Ghost Rider has to be violent. Hes a fucking firey skeleton on a bad ass chopper! how can this movie not be rated "R"?
