Shrek 2 and stuff

I went to see Shrek 2 yesterday and it reminded me of why i hate going to the movies. Because of the people. I can’t stand it when people get up and walk out to go take a piss or to buy more popcorn or whatever. I mean, you’re paying like $5.50 to see a movie and then you GET UP AND WALK OUT and miss out on entire sections of the flick not only just once, but at regular fucking intervals throughout the movie? There were a coupla people who did that, some right before the introduction of Puss In Boots (best character ever) and didn’t come back until after the WHOLE sequence ended (when Shrek and all are on the way to the fairy godmother’s place). That whole sequence was probably like, one of THE funniest parts in the movie! And they missed it. Morons. Then there was this whole family then came in late. Like fucking 45 minutes into the movie late and they couldn’t find a seat… yet… because half the fucking family wasn’t in there yet so you got you dad and your two kid daughters just standing in the aisle for like fucking 5 minutes before fatass mom and another kid comes in with like three bags of popcorn and a whole tray of drinks, and disrupting the attention of everybody who actually cared to watch the movie in peace by trying to get past people to get into whatever empty seats they could squeeze their fat asses in. And fuck it. Them standing there in the aisle totally made me miss out on one of the many blink-and-you’ll-miss-it in jokes. There goes like 20 cents of my fucking $5.50 wasted because of them distracting motherfuckers. I demand they give me back the experience of that lost in joke. Assholes. All of them.

Since it was a kids movie, about half the audience were kids. Thankfully none of them were loud or annoying. It was kinda fun though just to listen to who would laugh at what joke. Because there were a LOT of jokes aimed at adults and film aficionados. Stuff that would definitely go over kids heads.

So yeah, just a little pet peeve, no, a really fucking huge annoyance that makes me hate going to the movies, to have parts of the movie ruined by stupid fuckers who can’t sit still for 90 minutes. Good thing ticket prices are only like, $5.50 over here in Kalamazoo. Aren’t they like up to 7 or 10 bucks in LA and NY? And that’s not counting the popcorn and drinks which would probably drive up the total to like, $30. Per person. Yeah. I be even more pissed then.

That kind of shit better not happen again when i go see The Day After Tomorrow and Spider-Man 2.

Speaking of Spidey, know what’s better than being in the middle of a Kirsten Dunst/Thora Birch sandwich?

Why, being in the middle of an Amanda Bynes/Lindsay Lohan sandwich of course!

Mmmmmmmm….. sammiches.

Also, was it wrong of me to keep staring at Cameron Diaz’s CGI boobs in Shrek 2… while she was still an ogre?

Yeah.

Oh and two thumbs up for Shrek 2. Good movie. You’ll get at least 3 big hearty laughs out of it. Recommended. Especially if you’re a pop culture/movie buff. The inside jokes are teh best.

It’s official. Shrek 2 is a huge hit.

  23. Movies are so expensive now. They are up to like $7.50 here. If you include popcorn and a drink, then it is cheaper to buy the DVD than to see it out. Get a good sound system and you’ll never go back. I can’t wait for LOTR, which comes out Tuesday…

    $9.00 from 6:01PM-whenever the last movie starts
    $6.25 for seniors(60 & up) and children(3-12).
    $7.00 for students and military.
    Po-po and firemen get in for free usually.

    I hate all of them…except the cute little girls. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  26. Yeah, I also saw Shrek 2 last night and noticed the same bullshit. Usually don’t see it if I’m at a less kid oriented movie. Also picked up on the adult/film buff jokes.

    And yes, your ticket prices are cheap as fuck. Costs me $9 for a ticket to any of the shithole theatres around here, $10 for the decent theatre. A large coke costs $3.50, and the equiv. of a super size costs $4.50. Popcorn costs $6 for the big tub, $4 for the smallest one. Candy is no cheaper than $3 for a normal sized bag.

  38. Here in the middle of friggen nowhere CT, general admission is $9.50! Before 6pm, it’s 7 dollars and change. The kiddie drinks are $3.50, with the largest a whopping 6 bucks. Fuck popcorn. It’s pretty much the only theater around, so we have no choice if you want to watch your movie when it comes out. At least in LA and NY, where the movie prices are outrageous, they have other cool things to do!

    You’d be surprised: In the nice areas of Mexico City, theaters are as extravigant and clean as they are in the US, without all of that piss smell. Girls come around to serve you food before the movie starts, so you don’t have to waste time at the damn food stand. They even let you drink beer while you’re watching the movie.

  51. Hey Justin, take this piece of advice, drive 15 minutes up to Plainwell to the m-89 theatre. It’s cheap as all hell. Matinees are 2.50 and regular shows are 3.50. On mondays it’s 2 for $5. I’m gonna be seeing most of my summer movies up there.

    Same fucking deal here in SC. Every fucking time I go to a movie I’m always hearing, "What did he say?" and "Why the hell is it in subtitles? I paid $5.00 for this movie and I want english. We live in america dammit!" By the way that last commit was from an actual HICK when I was trying to watch The Passion of the Christ.
    I’m so tired of wanting to see a good movie and having some fucker who has an i.q. of a cockroach choosing to sit right next to me instead of a totally deserted area elswhere in the theatre. And when you do complain to management about those people you’ve just waisted 10 minutes telling them that you want your money back because some inbred motherfucker can’t read the announcements to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up. And when they do do something and ask the other people to be quiet they end up arguing to you after the manager leaves.
    I’ve heard rumors that we might perhaps have "on-demand" movies. Kind of like pay per view. I will probably be 100 and in adult diapers when those corporate baboons finally figure out how to do that without risking piracy.
    Anyway the only way that I’ve found to make movie going experience a little better is to go on school nights (actualy mon-wed) really late. The later the better. Also, go on church times. Most church sessions on sundays last for one hour and there is a time period when most of them are having them. For example, some last from 11am – 12pm and some last from 12pm – 1pm. If you figure in time for people to get dressed for church and get dressed after church there is a possible viewing time of 10:30am to 2pm. Sometimes my movie theatre opens for business around 12pm (different states may have earlier times) to start movies. I don’t go to a premiere of a new movie so I usually wait until sunday or school nights to actually see them.

    I know you’re thinking that I’ve probably ruined the secret for most of you, but don’t worry, . . . most of the hicks can’t read this anyway.

    By the way it’s $7.50 here for a matinee.

  88. Silvercity/FamousPlayers got rid of cheap Tuesday nights and made it 10.95 everyday no matter what time of day. As for LL, I think she’s better looking than most, definitely better than Thora. I’m a little surprised…with pore res pics, usually someone’s already pointed some imperfection (or perfection depending on the poster, ie exposed nip a la Mandy Moore ) But am I the only one to notice in pic 5 – what’s with her 4th finger?     Master&Commander is right though, she´s hotter than any girlfriend plenty of us will ever get.
    I just have some curiosity: how the fuc can a guy go to jail to look at pictures of a 17 year old girl’s nipple, but a girl using that kind of indumentary exposing her breasts like that and being full of blush and lipstick, completely sexualizing herself, does not have any kind of penalty?   94. you americans are all complaining about how much the movies cost, why dont you come over here to AUS, 14.50 everyday bsides tuesday in sydney and we dont get to see the majority of movies till like 6 months after they show in the US

  97. hope you didn’t leave during the credits at shrek 2, the dragon from the first movie arrives in time with some freak surprises for donkey. i don’t know what you would call them, dragkeys or donkgons. oh and tickets cost about $9 over here.
