I finally got hit by spambots spamming the comments with their usual poker casino cialis viagra crap. Never used to happen until now. I’d hate to have to turn on mandatory site registration again (because i’d like for everyone to be able to just jump in and leave a comment anytime, without having to register) so i’ve installed the Spam Karma 2.0 and Bad Behavior plugins.

Hopefully it’ll work out alright. So far nothing’s showing up in the spam logs. Maybe i just haven’t gotten spammed in the last 5 minutes but we’ll see how it goes.

Also, please let me know if your comments are getting blocked or eaten up. Apparently Spam Karma tends to do that. Just drop me a line at psykotik [at] gmail [dot] com if anything seems broken.

    looks like it’s working.

    thank you bad behavior!

but still, don’t hesitate to let me know if it starts blocking any of your legitimate comments.

  3. i’m gonna turn off spam karma for now since bad behavior seems to be doing a good job at keeping the spam out.

i dont want to have too many unnecessary plugins turned on.

  6. I have been on the internets for 15 years now and I’ve never clicked a spam link EVER. How do these peeps make any money?

i think their main purpose is to get their page ranking up by posting millions of links to their sites in peoples comments pages.

that way their site gets a higher ranking in google or something.

  8. I think the death penalty for spammers is appropriate. I would vote for that.

  9. I second that #8… although I think feeding them full of Viagra pills, while using a penis pump to enlarge their penis until it explodes, would be more appropriate.
