Looting: The police are looting. This has been confirmed by several independent sources. Some of the looting might be “legitimate” in as much as that word has any meaning in this context. They have also looted gun stores and pawn shops for all the small arms, supposedly to prevent “criminals” from doing so. But who knows their true intentions. We have an inside source in the NOPD who says that command and control is in chaos. He reports that command lapses more than 24 hours between check-ins, and that most of the force are “like deer in the headlights.” NOPD already had a reputation for corruption, but I am telling you now that the people we’ve been talking to say they are not recognizing the NOPD as a legitimate authority anymore, since cops have been seen looting in Walmarts and forcing people out of stores so they could back up SUVs and loot them. Don’t shoot the messenger….
Race and class are obviously a big part of all this. If anything is going to really rip art the countr its goingto be one or both of these things, and the Katrina really exposed a lot about them.

Isn’t, like, 67% or something of the population in New Orleans black? I think that’s what I heard on CNN or one of the news stations.
Plus, all the rich white folk got out before the storm hit because they had the money to travel and afford a hotel far away. Hence, all you see is black people looting, being left behind, et cetera.

First off you gotta be stupid to build below sea level and know you get flooded.
Secondly, the looting pork barrel politicos in DC are responsible for some of this.
Third, if the majority of people in New Orleans who were trapped were white, they would be out now.
Fourth, this just proves the shithole that Louisiana is. The south is a third world country and people are seeing this now.

The so called “report” on cops looting that was on the post is amateurish at best. Im not sure where Justin got that from, but Im going to go on a limb and say a left wing blog.
I always find it hilarious when people say that the looting is nothing more then a response to the desperation and hunger the poor citizens of ´Norlens are going through.
As if you can eat a Flat Screen LCD Screen or a new pair of Nikes will keep you warm at night.

Race wasn’t an issue. It’s only that 90 percent was nonwhite. Even if it were 100 percent white, the fact is relief could not have gotten to the refugees.
