My Safari is dead. I can’t get it to load up ever since i updated my Java thing with the system update last night. So i’m using Firefox right now. It’s not bad. I downloaded a theme to make it look like Safari. Plus a bunch of extensions and stuff. Adblock. Tabbrowser Preferences. Download Manager Tweak. Nifty.
Just have to get used to everything. The only thing i really don’t like is how the tabs don’t have their own individual X buttons (to close them). There’s only one and it’s all the way to the right of the tab bar. It should be on all the tabs, just like in Safari. I hate having to move the pointer all the way to the right just to close a tab. I could just right click and close but that’s just too much work. Mozilla should stop being faggots and add X’s to all individual tabs.
Anybody here running the new Tiger OS yet? I saw it when i was in Singapore. So sexy. I wonder what the next update will be called. Leopard? Sounds pretty gay compared to Jaguars and Panthers and Tigers.
I think i might just reinstall my Panther OS. Maybe that’ll get my Safari working again. I have no idea why it died like it did.
i use my trusty IE with SP2 no problems here

okay what the fuck. now my iChat is dead too. fucking system update.
i think it’s probably because the system update crashed before it fully installed everything properly. i was running quite a bunch of crap and fucking around with settings and stuff while it was installing. which probably made it crash.
now if i only knew where i put that OS install CD.

I hate macintosh with a passion… I had one for 2 years, and hated it.. then I bought a mac mini thinking it would be better, but no. IT”S WORSE! My advice, buy a PC.

hate the distant close tab button as well, but FF is better than Safari.
To fix your Mac problem try logging in as the root user and repairing the permissions using disk utility.
Ah fuck, I hit a nerd moment.

the Safari look is better than FF though. Good to know there’s theme to copy it. Apple will probably send the dogs around in the morning to lock the creator in a Jobs sweater for eternity.
Hey look at that, Jet Li is on Conan tonight. Does Conan exist in Singapore?
#6 | Comment by DisconcertedGeorge — May 7, 2005 @ 12:30 pm
maybe on cable. back in the day they used to show conan and leno on CNBC (albeit a few days late). not sure if they still do. i should check the tv guide.
i like the brushed metal look on mac apps. most apps now have an option for the aqua look or the metal look.
metal > aqua

you could always download the occasional torrent to see what he’s up to now and again.
See, these are the things you miss when you leave the decadent West! All Dubya wants to do is make sure that everyone can see Conan and other stuff like The Swan and that Bachelor show with Jerry Connell’s Frankenstein’s monster-faced brother.

people who have scroll wheels click them to close windows, firefox doesn’t need individual Xs.

Make sure you ran the 10.3.9 Java update after you did the 10.3.9 thang. 10.3.9 breaks java if you didn’t do all the java updates religiously before the 10.3.9 one. Yep. Fun stuff.
#10 | Comment by heavyboots — May 7, 2005 @ 12:56 pm
yeah but you have to map the scroll button to close a window and it only closes the front tab. Sometimes I’m just to lazy to move my finger over the middle.
Damn Jet Li is fricking tiny next to Conan. He looks like a school kid. A school kid who could smash your face in.

I’m hoping the next version of Mac OS will be called Pussy.
“Today Apple releases Pussy. People are lining up outside the stores to grab Pussy as soon as they open. Later we’ll find out what’s new in Pussy and how much it will cost. Back to Dave in the studio with the weather”

I have a new found respect for you. Though I have always enjoyed your skew on society and of course the good pics…
Before you go and reinstall the OS (and do an archive and install if you do) make sure you have all the updates run. The yank the preferences folder from your user>library. Restart. If Safari and iChat behave normally again you know you have a bad preference. Check and see which ones were created after you launched the apps to hunt down the bad ones (obviously do the archive and reinstall if this doesn’t work after the upates and restart).
And before you think that this is just some dweeb blowing smoke… know that this dweeb runs an Apple Specialist on the west coast…

Enough nerd talk. Can anyone help me identify the timeframe of this Lindsay pic? Is she suddenly bony with small boobs or is this a really old pic?

looks recent. She’s got thinner in the new Herbie Gets Bent movie. Goodbye Puffy Nipples. Maybe she’s wasting away from using too much Crack or whatever she’s sucking up these days.

check her out in the Herbie trailer.

She’s thinner but those boobies could still provide hours of fun. Maybe they’ve got smaller since then.

Justin, please tell me you didn’t do the upgrade to 10.3.9. In the future, before you ever touch that Software Update control panel, hit macfixit.com and find out if it hoses anything. Apple now has a cutting-edge OS out there, but they’ve broken a lot of things to get there. Slow and steady wins the race. I’m at 10.3.6 and I’ll stay there till a lot of these probs have been resolved.
On a happier note, at least we’re not dealing with spyware, trojans, or virii (ahem, XP SP2).
oh, and ewwww Lindsey is gross. that is all.

I think there was a problem with one of the Java updates recently for Panther. I tried searching but I am too lazy at the moment and give up. I updated to Tiger a few days ago and everything works great except when my computer wakes up, it won’t automatically detect my airport. 10.4.1 is already in the works to fix a couple of Tiger’s bugs. I say get it with the edu discount if you can’t find it for free.. It’s only 69 bucks. Dashboard and automater are cool and the new quicktime and HD trailers are awesome.

I’m running tiger already… sweet system, some cool stuff, but I would wait til 10.4.1 comes out if I had the choice now, it’s a bit buggy still, mostly with msn messenger, adium sorted that out, but I still want to use it to do file transfers and all… widgets are fun : ) and spotlight is great… nothing like seeing ppls faces when you drop a new widget onto the desktop on your powerbook and them seeing the ripple effect… my system hasn’t gotten any slower with it on, just a little krufty… like I said …10.4.1 in a couple weeks 🙂

Always, and I repeat ALWAYS, use Disk Utility to repair permissions before AND after installing any system update that requires a restart. I’ve followed this golden rule since Jaguar and have NEVER had one moment’s trouble with my ancient 400mHz Powerbook G4. : )
Looking forward to Tiger (it’s grrrrrrreat!), and LMFAO at all those poor Winblows saps who jealously call Macs “toys” and are STILL waiting for Longhorn… Suckers.
#20 | Comment by AngelBaby — May 7, 2005 @ 2:45 pm
I haven’t seen any slow-downs since installing Tiger. Mail and especially Safari seem a lot quicker. It might also be due to me having 1.5 gigs of ram and a 1.5gHz processor, but overall, things seem peppier compared to panther.

Firefox is a lame imitation of Opera, why bother? See the features that will be in Firefox next year now. 😛

Justin, try installing the modified TabX extension for Mac. It should place x’s on all the tabs.

i would suggest camino as an alternative browser to safari. it is faster then firefox, and I like the general look of it better
always… always… run your disk utility before any system updates. keep your os fresh and so clean
