THAT NEW TV I BOUGHT

The 98″ TCL C855 finally arrived two days ago, after a few shipment delays. Was supposed to be here Mid July, but that turned into Mid August.

Two dudes came by for the delivery.

They only made it to the foot of the stairs.

Box was way too heavy for them to carry it up.

So they had to call for backup and get another guy to come in and help.

They got it upstairs eventually.

Debated getting it wall mounted but decided not to. Not willing to risk a 98″ TV falling off the wall no matter how sturdy the mount would be.

Here’s the old setup with an 85″ Sony Bravia X90H that i got back in 2020.

And here’s the 98″ TCL C855 in 2024.

Tried matching the same angle for the pics. Might be hard to tell, but the TV is obviously a lot bigger. TV cabinet is just wide enough to fit the width of the TV.

Used to be able to stand up a PS5 and a PS4 Pro next to the old TV. Can’t do that since there’s barely any space left. Those posters are also gonna have to come off the wall. Can’t see shit anymore.

You can’t really tell from the pictures but the TCL C855 is a lot brighter than the Sony X90H. The X90H only has around 800 nits of peak brightness. The C855 goes up to 3500 nits.

I checked out the opening scene of the The Matrix Resurrections and those flashlights were absolutely blinding.

Pics and vids don’t do this TV any justice but it’s definitely an upgrade from the X90H. Mini LED is probably the next best thing to getting an OLED TV and i’m not too hot on OLED (used to have a 65″ LG C1. sold it. couldn’t deal with the high maintenance and burn in/dead pixel worries).

Will this be the last TV i ever buy? Maybe when 115″ TV come down in price?

Let’s check back in 2028!

  4. Each one of the girls in that pic is in a box the size of my 50-inch living room TV.
