BRING IT ON

Oh, it’s already been brought-en!

4K bluray just came in the mail today from Amazon (in a bubble wrap envelope if you’re wondering).

That picture up there, is the 4K bluray next to the DVD that my mom got for me (probably from Amazon) after being super disappointed that it wasn’t available to buy anywhere in Malaysia, where i was at the time (this was back in like March of 2001). She also got me Se7en: Platinum Edition on DVD, together with Bring It On (which, funnily enough, i just got Se7en on 4K bluray earlier this month; see previous post below this).

I’d link to these specific posts about me being disappointed about the Bring It On DVD not being available to buy in Malaysia, if i could. I searched but nothing came up. I could’ve sworn i posted about this DVD a bunch of times but when i did a search for “Bring It On DVD” on this site, nothing..!

Then i remembered there was a time when all my posts on here were done in raw HTML; before wordpress, before greymatter, before i started using content management systems that would have made posts searchable.

I never got around to fully converting all those older posts (circa June 2000 to September 2001). I think i only converted posts from June 2000 up to September 2000.

So there’s actually a whole year’s worth of posts that haven’t been converted to wordpress. This would have covered a chunk of time when i was still in college in Sunway, Kuala Lumpur, just before heading off to WMU in Michigan. Ah, college days.

Those older posts are still accessible though. Here’s a link to the stuff from March 2001. I guess you could just change the number in the URL (1 – 16) to get to all the other months before and after March 2001.

The 4K bluray cover says 25th Anniversary Edition on it.

Bring It On is 25 years old. Holy shit.

And that picture up there of the DVD and the 4K bluray, that’s like 24 years between their releases (DVD came out in February 2001).

Time flies man.

What

How is it June already and the last post i made was in January? How does time fly by so fast?

Also yes, i got lazy again and let 6 months go by between posts.

Also yes, here’s another Amazon pick up post.

It’s always a crapshoot when buying steelbooks. My copy of Se7en arrived dented, shipped in a flimsy envelope. Not surprising.

I also picked up this gem of a movie, which if you’ve never seen it, you should.

So last week, i saw that Amazon had the steelbook edition of the first season of The Last of Us Season One back in stock. It was sold out for a while.

Had to grab it, even though i already own the regular edition.

Figured i’d pick up the Akira steelbook as well and hope they ship it out in a box, seeing as there’s gonna be two blurays to ship.

So the package just arrived today and thank the heavens, they shipped it in a box.

Guess i got lucky this time and as you can see, no damage!

Tune in next time to see what else i bought. Riveting content!

Spoilers: I have Bring It On on the way.

I will have this in 4k UHD

I asked ChatGPT to tell me about this website

Pretty accurate! Funny how it singles out the Libby Hoeller and Psycho Girl posts as the more notable ones.

True story: “Psycho Girl” actually messaged me on Facebook (we’re Facebook Friends!?) in 2023 asking if she should start an OnlyFans page.

I told her i’d advise against doing it, but it’s ultimately her choice to make.

By the way, I also tried asking DeepSeek about dontlinkthis.net

FAIL!

AMAZON!!! *shakes fist*

This shipped in an envelope with zero padding.

It’s a miracle the bluray arrived with zero damage.

Why do i need 3 NVIDIA Shield Remotes?

For all my TVs of course.

I actually have 5 NVIDIA Shield Remotes in total. Now all 5 of my TVs have NVIDIA Shield Remotes.

Stock TV remotes are usually trash. NVIDIA Shield Remote is a great replacement. It’s good stuff.

YES ANOTHER AMAZON POST

I pre-ordered the Steelbook edition of Evil Dead (2013) together with that order for NARC, the Avril vinyls and Funko POPs from back in July.

(Yes, i already already own the Collector’s Edition of Evil Dead (2013) as well)

Evil Dead Steelbook just released a couple days ago, so it shipped seperately. So i’m expecting a package to come in and it just got delivered today.

But i got two packages instead.

I don’t remember ordering anything else? What’s going on?

Oh.

Amazon fucked up and sent me two copies even though i only ordered one.

Now i have 3 copies of Evil Dead (2013) on 4K Blu-ray.

Speaking of movies directed by Fede Álvarez, i went out and saw Alien Romulus (great flick) and i’m now currently kind of obsessed with Cailee Spaeny.

First saw her in Civil War and thought she was cute. Was kind of shocked to learn she’s 26 years old because she looks like a teenager.

I need to go back and check out other stuff she’s been in.

She would’ve been PERFECT as Ellie in The Last of Us, instead we got Bella Ramsey instead (she’s great, but what a miscast).

Look at this:

SO PRETTY.

THAT NEW TV I BOUGHT

The 98″ TCL C855 finally arrived two days ago, after a few shipment delays. Was supposed to be here Mid July, but that turned into Mid August.

Two dudes came by for the delivery.

They only made it to the foot of the stairs.

Box was way too heavy for them to carry it up.

So they had to call for backup and get another guy to come in and help.

They got it upstairs eventually.

Debated getting it wall mounted but decided not to. Not willing to risk a 98″ TV falling off the wall no matter how sturdy the mount would be.

Here’s the old setup with an 85″ Sony Bravia X90H that i got back in 2020.

And here’s the 98″ TCL C855 in 2024.

Tried matching the same angle for the pics. Might be hard to tell, but the TV is obviously a lot bigger. TV cabinet is just wide enough to fit the width of the TV.

Used to be able to stand up a PS5 and a PS4 Pro next to the old TV. Can’t do that since there’s barely any space left. Those posters are also gonna have to come off the wall. Can’t see shit anymore.

You can’t really tell from the pictures but the TCL C855 is a lot brighter than the Sony X90H. The X90H only has around 800 nits of peak brightness. The C855 goes up to 3500 nits.

I checked out the opening scene of the The Matrix Resurrections and those flashlights were absolutely blinding.

Pics and vids don’t do this TV any justice but it’s definitely an upgrade from the X90H. Mini LED is probably the next best thing to getting an OLED TV and i’m not too hot on OLED (used to have a 65″ LG C1. sold it. couldn’t deal with the high maintenance and burn in/dead pixel worries).

Will this be the last TV i ever buy? Maybe when 115″ TV come down in price?

Let’s check back in 2028!

COULD’VE BEEN WORSE

Look at how Amazon did that Funko POP dirty.

This was how they packaged everything. Everything else survived at least.

I don’t collect Funko POP! but had to get these Avril Lavigne ones.

Also got the Amazon exclusive colored variants of her records. Not sure why they don’t have an exclusive for The Best Damn Thing.

I may have an unhealthy obsession with her.

Here’s my Discogs profile if anybody was wondering. I usually only buy colored vinyl and have maybe 2 or 3 plain black ones in there.

The BTS and Taylor Swift vinyls, those i got for the wife.

Picked up NARC on a whim. I remember liking this movie a lot back in 2002. Looking at Joe Carnahan’s filmography, didn’t realize he directed The Grey. Had always heard good things about it, i should check it out someday.

Also, i fucked up when i pre-ordered that copy of Bound. I accidently got the Blu-ray version instead of the 4K UHD version. It arrived last week. What a dumb mistake. Now i’ll have to rebuy it on 4K. UGH.

I rewatched Bound and the movie still holds up. Jennifer Tilly is great. I’ve been trying to get my wife to watch it. She just thinks it’s some dumb 2000’s lesbian movie. IT’S SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT.

In conclusion, Bound is great. NARC is great. Avril Lavigne is great.

UGH I BOUGHT A NEW TV

So i wanted a new TV.

Then i didn’t want a new TV.

But one of the local stores here FINALLY posted about them bringing in that 98″ TCL C755 that i wanted, on pre-order.

AND IT ONLY COSTS BND $2999??? (USD $2216)

wtf.

And here i was thinking of getting a 98″ C755 imported from across the border from Malaysia, which would have cost me BND $6882 (USD $5163)

AND EVEN BETTER THAN A 98″ C755, now there’s a 2024 98″ C855 that they’re ALSO bringing in for BND $3999 (USD $2955)

I BOUGHT IT.

I bought a 98″ TCL C855, which is better than the 98″ TCL C755.

Oh and there’s the 115″ X955 that they’re also bringing in, but for freakin’ BND $19999 (USD $14779), which is way, WAY out of my league.

But a 98″ C855 for BND $3999, i can definitely do.So i got it all paid off and now i’m just waiting for July to roll on by and for it to get delivered.

My wife doesn’t know and i’m probably gonna get an earful, and fucked in the ass.

But these prices man, so weird. I just don’t understand why the price so much lower than in other neighboring countries.

I checked and the retail price for a 98″ C855 in Singapore is SGD $9199 (USD $6800) compared to BND $3999 (USD $2955).

(Note: Brunei and Singapore currency is pegged, so we share the exact share currency exchange rate)

That’s like, more than HALF off…!

And the price i would have paid to get a C755 (not even a c855) imported from Malaysia (RM $22,999 + RM $1000 for tax and delivery) would’ve ended up twice the price of if i were to just get a C855 here..! (BND $3999 C855 vs BND $6882 imported C755)

But hey, BND $3999 (USD $2955), i’ll take it!

Now granted, these are just TCL TVs. Not exactly Sony or Samsung or LG tier TVs. But for the features and the price, BND $3999 (USD $2955) for a 98″ Mini-LED TV with 3500 nit peak brightness, it just makes sense. And it’s a substantial enough upgrade from my 2020 85″ Sony X90H.

I own two other TCL TV around the house. A 55″ C735 and a 65″ C645, just bedroom and living room TVs. Specs aren’t too crazy on these ones but they’re pretty good for what they are. So i’m pretty familiar with TCL.

Is this the last TV i’ll ever buy?

Well, maybe if 115″ TVs ever become affordable in there future.

I’ll take pics of the TV once it’s here.

I have NO idea what i’m going to do with my 85″ Sony X90H though. Where could i even put that thing.
