Camera phone voyeurism

From news.com:

A developer in Tokyo has created an add-on for Vodafone handsets that’s meant to be used as a night filter to let people take pictures with their phones in the dark.

Unfortunately, the night vision camera has an unexpected side effect, according to Japanese developer Yamada Denshi. In the right circumstances, it allows users to see a lot more than they bargained for.

As well as taking snaps in the dark, the Yamada Denshi infrared filter apparently sees through people’s clothes.

I’d buy that for a dollar!

Gaming woes

FINALLY. Free from assignments and projects and tests and exams. For now anyway. I’ve got a stupid research paper to write for my History of Animation class due on the 4th. So i’ll have to get started on that sometime soon.

Got all my classes registered a week ago. Here’s what i’ll be taking next semester:

  • Abnormal Psychology
  • Child Psychology
  • Organizational Psychology
  • Human Sexuality (kekekeke)

Less than 2 weeks to go before Halo 2 comes out. Dead Or Alive Ultimate is out today. GTA: San Andreas and Ace Combat 5 just came out yesterday. And i just got Paper Mario last week. *sigh* So many games, so little time (and money).

I’ll be picking up DOAU tomorrow and i’ll probably be getting GTA:SA and AC5 in the mail in about a week or two (from my mom, i refuse to spend US$100+ on GTA and AC when i can get the US$2.50 or so bootlegs sent from back home). But before i do all that, i need to finish off Paper Mario first. Only two chapters left to go (Paper Mario is a great game btw. Lots of LOL moments).

By the time i get GTA, Halo 2 will probably be out. I have no idea how i’m gonna juggle playing all those games at the same time. Stupid game companies. Releasing all their AAA titles at the same time. Fuck the holiday spending season. They should just spread out all their games releases throughout the year. Who has the money to spend $400/500+ dollars on videogames in two months?? Makes me wish i was back home where i can pick up 5 PS2 games for something like, $12 bucks. Kekeke. Yep.

Seriously, any of you read the IGN review of GTA:SA yet? Best game ever. 9 point fucking 9. Wonder what Halo 2 will get. It got a 9.7 from OXM.

And then there’s MGS3, the new Prince of Persia game, Metroid Prime 2, Resident Evil 4 (which has thankfully been pushed back to the first quarter of 2005), Need For Speed Underground 2, Forza Motorsport and.. ….

    TOO MANY GAMES.

(btw, no i don’t download games or play PC games either. so Half Life 2 isn’t on my must buy list. what’s on yours?)

Anyway, i’ll be on Live on DOAU this week. I’ll probably suck since i haven’t played DOA2 since the Dreamcast days (i never got the third game). Time to get practicing with the demo version. Gamertag: Psykotik 2000.

  • That Ashlee Simpson SNL Incident

Ashlee Simpson’s thoughts on lip synching?

“I’m totally against it and offended by it. I’m going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I’d never lip-synch. It’s just not me.”

For those of you who missed it, here’s her excuse for this.

    UPDATE:

    Her official excuse?

    From MTV.com:

Ashlee Simpson claimed a chronic gastric disorder was the cause of her lip-synching miscue on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend. The singer said that acid reflux disease caused her to lose her voice and rely on a backing tape for her performance.

“It’s so embarrassing,” Simpson said when she called in to “TRL” Monday (October 25), “because it sucks. The total situation was a bummer. I made a complete fool of myself.”

    Oh snap! Another leak!

First GTA: San Andreas. Then Halo 2.

    And now, The Bard’s Tale!!

NEWPORT BEACH, CA (October 22, 2004) – Interactive entertainment developer and publisher inXile entertainment today announced that it is considering some form of leak of The Bard’s Tale, its eagerly anticipated action-role playing game (RPG), as a strategic plan to follow a growing trend among Triple A games.

“The Bard’s Tale is a highly original game in the same category as a Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 so we feel some sort of leak that sounds similar to what they have experienced may be the next logical step in our launch plans,” said Brian Fargo, founder and CEO of inXile entertainment. “Of course we would immediately condemn the leak and make every effort to stop it if we proceed with it.”

“In The Bard’s Tale, our main character, The Bard, is an opportunist always interested in getting goods at a discounted rate so we feel he would applaud some sort of leak,” said Matt Findley, president of inXile entertainment.

It’s unclear how the leak will be handled, if implemented. Pirated or unauthorized playable game code would not actually be made available over the internet or otherwise but the full version of the game could be attained by game enthusiasts at major retail outlets as early as October 26th 2004.

For those wishing to help track down any potential thieves of The Bard’s Tale, inXile is proactively offering the following advice: If anyone finds information on websites with links to unauthorized downloads, information, scans or videos, please contact us at shamelessmarketing@inxile-entertainment.com.

Videogame leaks! It’s the new nipple slip/sex tape!
