Who’s next?!

Let’s see. First, there was Avril. I posted about her 3 summers ago before she ever really hit it big. I think i may have even gotten a bunch of people to buy her CD. I remember reading comments from people saying how they wouldn’t have even given her a second look (or listen) if it weren’t for me putting up pictures of her all over my site and essentially promoting her.

Hey,

Thanks for the intro to Avril! It’s nice to hear someone just before they explode, and I just gave her album a listen. Bye bye Britney, say hello to Avril.

I love it when Canadians dominate entertainment media (being Canadian myself, eh?) That’s how Canada secretly controls the world (so, uh, don’t tell anyone.)

Later,
Gus

Hey Psykotik Mullet-Man,

Update your site for Christ’s sake already! Your last posting is 4 days old.

You made me order a Avril Lange cd off of Amazon since I was making a cd order I decided to try it anyway. I am awaiting its arrival. You can tell your new love of your life that your site is responsible for her increased traffic and increased SALES.

🙂

Never actually made any contact with her (i think she’s too punk to visit fubar and leave comments) but i did get to experience what it was like to be her. And what a nightmare that was.

Then there was Lillix. Canadian girl band who went on to have a song on the Freaky Friday soundtrack and to do the opening theme song to Amanda Bynes’ What I Like About You show on the WB. I posted about them 2 years ago before they hit it big. Not as big as Avril, but pretty big nonetheless. And they were actually cool enough to stop by and say thanks (!). Tasha-Ray and Kim both visited fubar and left comments.

hi everyone…i just like to say thanks for putting up sites like this…support from you means sooo much*

Kim was even nice enough to keep in contact through e-mail with me and send pics of the band on the road.

Then there was Jojo. Wrote about her before she got big too. And like the girls from Lillix, she was nice enough to leave a comment too.

Hey Guys!! Its JoJo! Thanks for all the support. Haha, Yeah everyone says i dont look my age but ya know ill get over it. 🙂 Please buy my CD in june!

Too Much Love:

Bless you Jojo.

And obviously, my biggest claim to date, That Pepsi Girl. Mandy Amano. Made her her first fan blog, made her famous around the world (wide web), got her into Maxim magazine, and eventually onto the Kevin and Bean show on KROQ 106.7; all as a result of a blog that i made.

Oh and it subsequently got me invited to be on the show with her.

How will i ever be able to top all of that. I don’t think it’s even possible.

Anyhow, i’m just writing about all of this as a record to look back on.

On that note, i find it hilarious whenever (stupid) fans stumble upon my old Avril/Lillix/Jojo posts. I got one earlier today from some girl trying to promote some other unknown singer on my Jojo post. Actually it kinda scares me when girls stop by to leave comments about whatever teen celeb i’ve posted about. I can’t help but wonder what they might think once they actually realize what kind of site they’re actually leaving comments on. Not that there’s anything really wrong about this site, but well.. come on, think about it. It is kinda disturbing. Especially if you have no idea about the inner workings of fubar and aren’t aware of the running jokes around here. If i weren’t me, i’d probably think it was creepy too. I rule at being fake creepy.

Which is why i really hope that first time visitors check out the testimonials page to find out what they’re getting themselves into if they choose to follow the site.

Anyhow, as i was saying, i find it hilarious when (stupid) fans leave comments about their favorite celebs on the internet. Especially when they have NO CLUE as to what kind of site they’re on.

Case in point.

New trailers!

Ooooh new Michael Bay flick coming this summer. I think this is his first movie without Jerry Bruckheimer producing. Looks alright. It’s called The Island. Trailer doesn’t really tell you much about the plot. But that’s not such a bad thing. Because i HATE it when they practically give away the entire story or when they show ALL the money shots in the trailer.

Oh and did i mention that Scarlett Johansson’s in it?

Scar Jo in a Michael Bay action movie? Never thought i’d see that happen.

Will it be the biggest movie of 2005? Probably not. That honor is definitely going to War of the Worlds. There is no way that this movie won’t bank. It’s going to be the movie event of the summer for sure. And look! Dakota Fanning’s in it! She looks a little older here than she did in Hide and Seek (God that movie sucked). I still think she’s a superior intelligent being (read: alien) in a child’s body though.

Finally, there’s Red Eye. From Wes Craven. Starring Mean Girl/Hot Chick Rachel McAdams. This movie looks a HELL of a lot better than that Cursed flick (also from Wes Craven, but i blame Miramax’s tinkering for it’s major suckage). Speaking of Rachel McAdams, i really need to get The Notebook on DVD someday. I’ve heard good things about it.

Coincidently, all three of these movies are from Dreamworks. Very nice lineup.

Random pics

I have a random grab bag of pics today. From the Ice Princess premiere, Hayden Panettiere, Michelle Trachtenberg and (relative newcomer?) Alyson Michalka. Yeah, i’ve never heard of her either. I think she has a co starring role in Ice Princess or something.

So why am i so hyped up about freakin’ Ice Princess of all things? Why, to be able to see Hayden Panettiere in skimpy ice skating clothes of course! (EXTREMELY) short skirts galore! I saw an interview on E! with Hayden saying how she felt practically naked with that outfit on. Now that’s hot.

And check out her juicy thighs.

*slobber*

In other news, looks like Alicia Silverstone is back on the silver screen. She’s gonna be in that new Beauty Shop movie with Queen Latifah. I saw a clip of the movie on VH1 where she was dancing in a club. I can’t remember if it was funny dance or a sexy dance (probably both) but i do remember thinking “DAMN. That was Alicia Silverstone??”. She was shakin’ it like there was no tomorrow. Hot.

Oh and finally, a hi res scan of Jessica Alba from that GQ shoot (the rest of the pics will come soon).

I’ve got mail!

And a fairly amusing e-mail to boot. Not sure if he got my address off of fubar or the Pepsi Girl blog (probably the latter) but here it is, unedited:

Haha. Anyway, AdRants did a nice little write up about the Mandy interview. I have to thank AdRants for initially helping get the word out about the Pepsi Girl blog. If they hadn’t had linked to it in the first place, the blog probably wouldn’t have gotten all the media attention that it’s had since its inception.

And yes, if you’re wondering, AdRants was in on the whole joke from the very beginning (you know, that it wasn’t really a real stalkerblog). Oh and for the sake of those of you who are too lazy to search for that link to the post where i reveal all the ‘secrets’ of the Pepsi Girl blog, here it is.

Keep in mind that it was written for noobs. Not fubar regulars. It’s interesting, maybe a little boring but definitely not as funny as the thought of the Pepsi Girl being some stalker’s blog. Plus it’s too long a story to tell on radio. Hence my decision to just play along with the funnier stalker crap. Not like i had much of a choice anyway! They already built up that angle before i even got on air! Haha.

Oh and by the way, i think the magnitude has finally sunk in. A snippet from a different e-mail:

—————
The show is pretty dang huge – has been for quite some time, and definitely isn’t some crappy mom and pop show.  Those guys are morning drive at KROQ in one of the biggest markets – LA — and even though their site sucks major ass, that station is huge.

Carson Daily, Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Corolla all started at that station, and I’m pretty sure that Carson and Jimmy started with Kevin and Bean, and Adam was doing lovelines late at night.

So it’s definitely a coup you landed! 🙂

OMG radio interview!

Ahhh. What a day. Radio interview on KROQ 106.7 (!), getting to talk to Mandy (!), two exams in a row (ow) and a splitting headache later (double ow)… that’s thankfully gone now (thanks Advil Liqui-gels)…

A pretty eventful day to say the least.

The interview went pretty well. A lot better than i expected. Oh and come now you guys in the comments, they weren’t even that hard on me! And of course they’re gonna play up the whole stalker angle. I think that’s pretty much the entire ‘hook’ of the Pepsi Girl site. At least in the beginning anyway (you’ll notice that i eventually toned down that aspect of the site after i found out her name).

The guys at the station were actually very cool. Bean sent me an e-mail after the show was over to say thanks and stuff and how Mandy really enjoyed everything. And the executive producer of the show also e-mailed to send over a picture of Mandy with the K&B gang.

I don’t think i’m even aware of the magnitude of getting interviewed on teh KROQ. But i’m sure those of you from the West coast know better. According to Michael, the guy who runs that K&B recap blog, “The Kevin and Bean Show is consistently one of the top 5 shows in LA, regularly beating out even the likes of Howard Stern, so congrats!”.

“It’s probably top 3 US stations…” says Embus. So maybe i should pat myself on the back? Haha.

I was actually debating on whether to tell them the whole (and rather boring) story about how i actually started the blog but figured it would be better (and definitely a lot more funnier) to just play up and go along with the stalker stuff. And besides, there’s a link to the whole (boring) ‘behind the scenes’ stuff of how the Pepsi Girl blog came to be in one of the posts on there anyway. But it’s pretty easy to overlook though, so you might have to be pretty eagle eyed to notice the link. I posted a recap of the interview over at the Pepsi Girl blog. Nothing major. But check it out anyway.

Anyhow, thanks to Ryan for making the MP3 of the interview, which you can download here.

Funny thing is, i didn’t even realize that i’d said “One to frame, and one to… you know” (in reference to how many copies of Mandy’s Maxim issue i’d get).

“One to… you know”

I really did mean to say “read”. I did!

Me on KROQ 106.7?

WHAT TO DO!?

Jessica Alba in GQ

I’ve never been a fan of Jessica Alba. Never really saw the appeal in her. But after looking at these pics, i asked myself:

“Would i hit it now?”

Ehhhh… probably not. Maybe if i was really bored or something. Or if had nothing else better to do (peanut gallery: “OR MAYBE IF YOU WEREN’T GAY!” to which i say: “shut up”).

I’ll probably update those pics with hi res versions once they show up.

update: now in higher res!

Oh and uh, i updated the Pepsi Girl site. Apparently Mandy’s going to be on the Kevin and Bean show on KROQ 106.7 tomorrow. I dont have a radio so i probably won’t be tuning in. But i do know of a site where you can download their show (after it’s over of course) so yeah, should be pretty interesting to see if the Pepsi Girl blog will get mentioned on air. Or maybe even ‘Justin from Michigan’!

Oh and bear with the lack of fubar updates. I just had an exam today and i’m gonna have two more tomorrow. Been busy studying! Regularly scheduled crap will commence after i’m done with everything.
